Hi all,
A lot of work and progress has been made in the past few weeks, so
hopefully you will take the time to click on a link that interests you
and see what various groups have been up to...
1. There has been a great deal of support for an Organic Food Co-
operative to be started here in Opotiki. We have an option of using
some space in the Ngaitai Iwi Authority Trust's 'Blue Shed' on the
corner of Church and Richard St.
If you are interested in being part of or supporting the existance of
an organic food co-op in Opotiki then please come to the meeting at
Matt and Kazna's place at 7pm Weds 30th July; at 60 Wellington St,
Opotiki.
We will have available a price-list of organic food from Chantals and
a copy of the WOK model to discuss and see if it is feasible to run a
similar model here.
This is an important event, as if we are able to plan a supported and
sustainable food co-op model then we may be able to generate
sufficient income to pay rent on the use of the Blue Shed, which would
then cover the use for many of our other initiatives. ie. it is a
proposed building block in a bigger picture, while also being a
worthwhile initiative on its own.
2. We are in the process of applying to become a Charitable Trust, and
have a draft agreement drawn up. I have put our proposed Purposes and
Principles on our website, so please check them and leave a comment.

3. Negotiations are also underway for us to work in cooperative
partnership with the Ngaitai Iwi Authority Trust, in particular to
utilise their Blue Shed to house many of initiatives listed below,
plus an Environment Centre. Strategic Planning has helped us to
develop a vision for the use of the building, and the first draft is
on our site.

4. Recently Energy Options advertised for nominations for a charitable
group to get an energy efficient makeover, including insulation and a
wood pellet fire. The TTOC nomination form for the Blue Shed is here

5. The TTOC regular column is being published every Thursday in the
Opotiki News, and has recieved very positive feedback. I publish the
articles a week before they are submitted to the paper for printing on
the TTNZ site, as a blog. This is so I can get feedback on the first
draft before I send it off. Visit

to read next weeks article and make suggestions.
Cheers
