Hi all,

I will be running the Sustainable Living course through the Opotiki
Community Activities Office at the College on Mondays from 6.30pm.

Spaces on the course are limited, so forward this to friends and
colleagues who won't want to miss out...

"Everybody knows our global environment is suffering and most people,
given the choice, want to do something constructive about it. But
where do you begin, locally? How can one person even make a
difference?

We can show you how.

The Sustainable Living programme is a practical way of making small
changes to limit your environmental impact at home. It’s your
opportunity to step up, do your bit for the environment and find you
can have fun doing so.

Learn how you can save money and the world at the same time. Find out
what would make your house healthier, or how you can reduce your
weekly waste. Topics include transport, organic gardening, water
saving, shopping choices, and more."

More details on the course are here: http://www.sustainableliving.org.nz/

To join, contact the CAO on 315 7025.

The Transition Town website has had a pretty amazing overhaul in the
last two weeks, and I've been working to make our Opotiki Coast page
really work for us. Check it out at http://www.transitiontowns.org.nz/opotikicoast
.

My column in the Opotiki News is on the TT website as a regular blog
now too. I'd love to get your feedback on it all, so visit the site
and leave a comment.

Cheers,
Kazel

Hi,

There are still spaces on the Sustainable Living Course through the
Opotiki Community Activities Office.

It runs from 6.30- 8.30pm on Monday nights, and is FREE!

This week we will be looking at Energy, a lot of the focus is on
actions that a household can take immediately, and on electricity in
particular. There is potential to save a lot of money, as well as the
bigger picture of reducing the need for new fossil-fuelled power
stations.

Some people in the TT group have been doing research on Biodiesel and
Community owned Windmills, and hopefully there will be some lively
discussion about the feasibility of these options for Opotiki as well.

If you have an interest in Energy, in networking with others, in
saving money, in insulation, in reducing your Carbon Footprint, come
along to the Communities Activities Seminar Room, which is in the
College on Bridge St.

You can call the CAO on 315 7025, or just turn up on Monday night
after dinner to the CAO conference room in the college grounds on
Bridge St.

Cheers
