Dear All

Chasing Ice

I am pleased to let the Energy Champions in the south of the county know that there is also a screening of Chasing Ice on Tues 18th Feb starting at 8pm in the Civic Centre in Berkhamsted - shown by the Berkhamsted Film Society. This will not be a free showing, but the film sounds as if it would be very interesting and a worthwhile trip out. Thank you to Community Energy Champion, Sam Free for this update!

Free Webinar – Building Smarter Community Energy Schemes

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) are holding a webinar (this is a training session where you log in from your own computer) on February 13th to explain some of the fundamental theories of behaviour which are relevant in the context of participation in a community energy scheme from 16:00 – 16:45. (you can also view this later on YouTube if you are not available at the time).

Here’s what they say about it:

If you have tried to involve your neighbours in a community energy project, you have probably come up against some level of apathy or resistance. Often, people in your community do care about the environment or saving energy, but they still don't get around to doing anything about it. Why is this? Knowing a little bit about behavioural research can help us understand what prompts or prevents people from taking action. It can help us encourage people to change the way they use energy at home, to get around to installing energy efficiency measures, or to get on board with community energy generation schemes.

As well as the theory, we'll also explore some case studies which give insights into where things can go wrong and where schemes have got it right when it comes to engaging with the community.

It sounds like a perfect training for us! Click here to find out or to find out more, or to see how you can watch it on YouTube later! You can book yourself directly on the training by emailing commu...@cse.org.uk
