His book The Holistic Life - “An accessible and up-to-date introduction to permaculture, full of colourful illustrations. Covers food, building, community, appropriate technology and the conservation of resources and tells inspiring stories from all over the world. A great addition to the library.”148pp from http://permacultureprinciples.com/resources_holistic.php

More about Ian...
I first met Ian in 1992, he was the lead Permaculture teacher on the Permculture Design Course I did. He went to Australia shortly after this and has been involved with all sorts of interesting projects and is highly knowledgeable about things going on there, in Hong Kong and in the UK......
Ian has a BA (Hons) in Geography from Liverpool {England}; two Diplomas of Permaculture (one through the Australian Accredited training system and one from the Permaculture Institute); and Adult Education qualifications.
Ian helped establish city farms in England in the 1980's, which led to contact with Bill Mollison (he ran workshops on City Farms there in 1982) and also to work at CERES, Melbourne 1986/7 and 1989.

From 1992 - 96 Ian taught PDCs alongside David Holmgren in Central Victoria and in the mid 1990’s Ian and his family built a solar/eco home from rammed earth and re-cycled materials in South Australia. Ian has worked for the National Centre for Sustainability around Australia, and with Greener Houses, a project that has carried out eco-retrofits of suburban community centres in Melbourne.

Ian is one of thirty permaculturists that have co-written “Permaculture Pioneers” – which had its UK launch at the Convergence. Although Aussie-based, many of the contributors were born in and/or teach in the UK. The book explores social and inner change for sustainability, charting a history of the first three decades of permaculture, through the personal stories of Australian permaculturists. From permaculture co-originator David Holmgren, to ABC Gardening Australia presenter Josh Byrne, the authors span the generations and the continent.”

Dear All
Sadly, The Farmhouse has closed and will no longer be able to host our event next week.

Firstly, if anyone knows anyway we can support The Farmhouse within our network then lets do it! It sounds like they have not gone forever but plan to find another venue. There are so few venues supporting local people and local musicians in Canterbury, we need them as much as they need us! And they have been incredibly supportive of our activities over the years.

Secondly, we need another venue next Wednesday evening that can host this free in exchange for donations, drinks? It feels important to keep this event free if we can and there is not much time left. Any ideas please email me ASAP. PLEASE!

Thanks Jo
