Some people have been noticing a sludge depositing on the bottom of
their cells and plating action happening on the electrodes. If we
begin by using pure distilled water and then adding only a small
amount of lye this should not occur. I've been buying my distilled
water at Walmart under the brand name "Great Value". This Saturday
during the class I noticed that this distilled water states on the
label that it is made using a reverse osmosis process. In other
words, it is NOT distilled water! It is only filtered water and
retains all the minerals and other impurities that a true distilling
process will remove. If you use this water you will notice a rapid
deterioration of the electrolysis process and rapid build-up of
reddish/brown sediment in the bottom of your cell. Make sure you only
get "steamed distilled" water to avoid these problems.

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't tested my cell yet so I guess my
wal-mart distilled water will go in the fridge. What brand did you use
in place of it?

I use EW James water or Rural King that say's steamed distilled
water. Keep saving and help keep the air we breath better.

The Always Save brand at E W James is also not steam distilled.

Another problem I've found is that DRANO has metal and dye in it.

We probably need to find RED DEVIL LYE.

John, I'm sending you a PM.

The "nursery water" (purple top) at Walmart has added Fluoride. I got
some- I'll let you know how it stacks up. Testing underway.
