Yellow plum harvesting today - would you like some plums?

Hi TTBFood people - I sent the email below out to the TTBactive list, but you may be interested too. We are harvesting plums today, but also need more jars and, if possible, people who would like plums to process. We expect there to be good ones that we have picked and not-so-good ones from the ground. They make delicious jam and can be stewed with or without sugar.

I have also put together a website www.ovalyellowplum.wordpress.com about some other plum trees at Oval, but it has recipes too.

Hi all,

 I have negotiated with Hyde Housing to harvest a yellow plum tree in an estate just by the Oval. It is in a locked area but we will have access tomorrow from about 4.40 onwards. Join me at the Oval then or come later. Mike will be leaving our house with a ladder at around 5.45 to join me – you could come with him if you prefer (let me know if you need the address).

 Please bring containers to put fruit in. There are a lot of plums on the ground, but also plenty to pick. They are larger than the Archbishop Tenison’s School ones and the tree is much smaller so it will be easier to harvest.

 Location: It is near Oval Tube station, in Kennington Oval (that is the name of the road), on the opposite side of the road, a little way towards Vauxhall.  Also, does anyone have any spare jars for jam, including small ones? Or expertise or equipment for making wine (there are a lot on the ground which may not be good enough for jam/stewing or bottling)?
