Hey folks, this Saturday looks like a great day to get in a hike before the rainy season hits.  There's an interesting and fairly easy hike (only ~2 hours) on the MacLehose Trail from Kowloon Reservoir to Shing Mun Reservoir where there are great views of Mount Tai Mo.  This section is also known for its colonies of monkeys (http://www.trazzler.com/trips/kowloon-in-hk) and some British WWII bunkers en route (http://me.lt/1l7Tl ).

The plan is to meet up at Lai Chi Kok MTR (red line) at 2pm for a quick cab/bus ride up to Kowloon Reservoir and finish up around 4:30/5 at Pineapple Dam.  Then we'll probably head to Tsuen Wan for a well deserved dinner.  Let me know if you can make it by tomorrow afternoon and I'll send out more details on the meetup location.  Also let me know if you can only join for dinner and we'll work out a convenient location for everyone.

cheers,
Jimmy

Hey everyone, looks like we'll have a pretty good group going for the hike tomorrow!  To give folks a bit more time for lunch, lets meet on Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm at Exit A of Lai Chi Kok (荔枝角) station.  Call me at 6500-7366 if you can't find us.  From there we can take the #72 bus up to Kowloon reservoir and the start of the hike.  At a leisurely pace and w/ time to check out the scenic area at ShingMun Reservoir we should be done by 6 at the latest.  Some folks might be joining just for dinner (let me know if you can make it for sure so I can adjust the reservation) so we're going to head down to TST (a quick trip on the west rail) for some Spanish tapas and Sangria (http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=7035) at 7:30pm.  If the hikers have a bit of time to kill before dinner there are also lots of foot massage places in that area.

See everyone tomorrow!  Wear comfortable well-padded shoes and bring at least one bottle of water.  Hiking sticks optional but won't hurt if you don't hike often. Don't bring any food with you unless it's sealed or you're ready to give it up to the monkeys.

cheers,
Jimmy
