A lot of it seems to come down to memory: strong passwords are easy to forget, and with most people having dozens, if not hundreds, of digital accounts, it can feel impossible to keep track of them all.

Available on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, and via the web, you never have to worry about trying to remember passwords while logging into email accounts on different devices again. Everything is automatically synced across every platform, so you can think less about how to log in and more about the important stuff.

A strong email password is at least 12 characters long and includes a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. You should avoid using common words or phrases as your password, and you should also avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.

In addition to using a strong password, you can also protect your email account by enabling two-factor authentication. Two-factor authentication requires you to enter a code from your phone in addition to your password when you sign in to your account. This helps to prevent unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.

I'm trying to transition from a gmail account to a workspace account for my business and would like to add the old gmail account to my new workspace account so I can access old emails etc. Ive tried adding in the new account's gmail but it keeps giving me an error. This is what I've done but nothing seems to work. Has anyone successfully added a gmail account into another workspace account?

The account has two factor authentication enabled, so I'm using an app specific password for my login. To my understanding, this should then work without enabling the setting for less secure apps, shouldn't it? I've been doing the same with another account while testing without a problem, but now I finally got the credentials for the proper account and there it won't accept the authentication.

An app password is a 16-digit passcode that gives a non-Google app or device permission to access your Google Account. App passwords can only be used with accounts that have 2-Step Verification turned on.

About POP--as far as I can tell, neither 2-step verification nor using an "app password" will fix this. At least it didn't help in my situation. I tried both of those, I deleted keychains, I restarted, I deleted and re-created the accounts. If I created an account using IMAP, it works; if I created it using POP, it would *not* verify the password. Ever. I wasted the better part of a day fighting with it. I guess I have to try to get used to using IMAP.

My Mail app is set up to use Gmail via POP. After turning two-step verification ON in my Google account and creating an app password as indicated above this solved the problem. I don't like IMAP, and would have changed email provider rather than use it.

Hi.
I have tried two different SMTP services, including Google Workspace SMTP, and the results are the same. The test email runs fine. The password reset however always goes to spam and is marked dangerous.
I have set a custom domain, and it reflects the same domain as where the email is sent from and the link back to the password reset. My spf and Cname settings are all fine. Im at a loss as to how to progress from here?

Gmail does allow you to add your account to Outlook without setting up two-factor authentication and using an app password, but you must turn on a setting that allows "less secure apps" to connect to your account. We do not recommend this setting. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication and using an app password.

I have a Gmail account that I haven't used in ages so I've forgotten the login name I used to sign up with. I've forgotten the recovery e-mail address setup on the account but I can remember my password.

The username and password are both unchanged (for years now) and also confirmed they were correct by copying and pasting them from the Discourse admin panel in to gmail.com to confirm they were correct.

Before you connect to your Gmail account from Outlook on the web, or add a Gmail account to Outlook, you need to prepare your Gmail account. You need to turn on 2-step verification for Gmail and then create an app password that Office 365 will use with your Gmail address to make the connection.

To use an app password with Gmail, you have to first turn on 2-step verification, and then obtain the app password. Once you have an app password, you can use that in combination with your username to connect to Gmail.

Re-enter your password if asked, and in the Set up your phone step, enter or verify your cell phone. On the next step, enter the verification number sent to your cell phone and choose Verify.

Note the app password under Your app password for your device. You can use this with your Gmail address in the app you're connecting to your Gmail account (or adding you Gmail account to). This combination grants complete access to your Gmail account by the app that is using it.

The 16-character app password is displayed with spaces so it is easier to read. When you enter it to the app you want to connect, ignore the spaces and enter it as an unbroken string of 16 characters.

Now you're ready to add your Gmail account to Outlook. When you're prompted for a password, you enter this app password for your Gmail account. Don't enter your Gmail password. For instructions on adding your Gmail account to Outlook, see these articles:

Add a phone number and recovery email to your Google account to avoid future password recovery troubles. If you have similar problems in the future, restoring access to your report will be simpler, thanks to these extra recovery alternatives. Take these steps:

To add another level of protection during the password recovery procedure, Google allows users to create security questions. You may more quickly authenticate your identity and obtain access to your account by providing accurate answers to these questions.

Your Gmail account has an additional degree of protection thanks to two-factor authentication. When signing in, you must provide your password and a second verification number if you use 2FA. This code is usually created by an authenticator app or transmitted by SMS to your mobile device. The extra authentication step that 2FA demands makes it far more difficult for unauthorized users to access your account.

Ensure the recovery email address and phone number linked to your Gmail account are current and correct. If you forget your password, you may use these recovery alternatives to get back into your account. Check and update your contact information in your Google account settings often to make sure it is accurate.

Never share or keep your password in a location where it is readily accessible. Use a password manager, which securely saves your passwords and enables you to create and maintain robust, individual passwords for several accounts. Password managers provide access to an encrypted vault where you may store your passwords, offering additional security against unwanted access.

5. Fill in the Account details with a username and password of your choosing. This account is strictly for scanning purposes and does not need to be tied to any person in general. The username here will be utilized later, make sure to make note of it. Click Next.

18. IMPORTANT: Highlight and copy the app password. This is a unique password that is generated one time, and once you leave this screen it cannot be recovered. Once copied (and you may want to make a physical note of it as well) click Done.

Luckily, Google Gmail has a feature called Confidential Mode that helps protect sensitive information from authorized access. With Confidential Mode, you can set an expiration date and a password for messages and even revoke access any time you choose. And when a recipient receives a confidential message, they cannot forward, copy, print, or download the message. Although this isn't a 1:1 substitute for actual encryption, it is much easier to use than the encryption options found in Thunderbird.

Changing your Gmail password might sound like a hassle, but it can be a great way to protect yourself from potential hacks, and combat security breaches when they do happen. And in reality, it only takes a minute or two to accomplish, assuming you have a new password in mind.

Quick tip: If you forgot your password and are having trouble logging in, you can instead reset your Gmail password. That way, you won't have to worry about being prompted to sign in again using your current password.
