Greetings, members of the Teaching Statistics in Business Schools (TSIBS) list!

We're now up to 24 members.

I urge anyone knowing of sessions related to MSMESB-type content which have been scheduled for upcoming meetings to send notices to all of us.

Regards,

Bill Parr

Hello Bill,

Thank you for organizing TSIBS.
I am wondering if you have formed a social network
at Linkedin.com?

Thanks.

Hiro -

Thanks for the feedback. We haven't formed a social network. At present, TSIBS is a very low volume mailing list.

What do you see as the major benefits of forming a social network related to TSIBS?

Bill,

One can join in other relevant groups such as Advanced Business Analytics,
Data Mining, and Predictive
Modeling, Applied Forecasting and Analytics - the two I have recently
joined. Practioners seem to participate
from whom academics can learn.

Thanks.

Hiro -

Oh - certainly. I am in fact a member of two of the groups you mention. This doesn't require that there be a social network in LinkedIn for TSIBS, however - - just that members who are interested join LinkedIn and then join those groups.

A suggestion - - can you compose an email and send it to TSIBS which tells TSIBS members:

1) How to join LinkedIn

2) How to find and join the groups

Does this make sense as an approach?

I'd be happy to create a social network - - - it doesn't require much effort to create or manage one - - - but it seems that everything is already there, without creating a new social network.

Do you agree? Other thoughts?

Bill,

Here is the link:

The social networking site is LinkedIn http://www.linkedin.com/ An
explanation how to join
is available there.

Since you have started TSIBS, it might be more natural that you take an
initiative
to start a new group there, say MSEMESB (Making Statistics "Education" More
Effective
in Schools of Business. Statistics is already effective in business. Its
education needs attendtion.)

Recently, I noticed a discussion on Intro OPMGT course design. Maybe you
can start a similar discussion on MSEMESB.
