Eatingout or ordering a tableful of food to go is a popular choice for Thanksgiving for people who aren't up to spending a day in the kitchen. Tennessee-based chain Cracker Barrel has announced its Thanksgiving menus for dining in, taking home to heat up yourself, or having catered.

Cracker Barrel is open for regular business hours on Thanksgiving Day, but check your local location hours at crackerbarrel.com. If you're dining in, you can use the Online Wait List on their website or through the Cracker Barrel app (iOS Android) to reduce your wait time.

If you're hoping to meet up at Cracker Barrel and eat there, on Thanksgiving Day they'll have a traditional "Turkey 'n' Dressing" meal with roasted turkey breast, cornbread dressing and gravy, country green beans, sweet potato casserole topped with pecans, cranberry relish and more. Prices start at $16.49 and can be enjoyed right in front of the fireplace there, or you can get one to go on Nov. 23 beginning at 11 a.m.

But if you want to eat there, plan on spending some time browsing the country store side of the building or playing a lot of checkers in a rocking chair out front. Cracker Barrel locations get busy on Thanksgiving. From 2010 to 2019, Cracker Barrel has served up 3.8 million pounds of turkey, 49.6 million ounces of gravy, and 3 million pounds of sweet potato casserole.

Once again this year Cracker Barrel is offering "Heat 'n' Serve' dinners that are already prepared and can be served in two hours or less. Do you have to tell your family or guests that that lovely spread came out of a lot of containers? Cracker Barrel doesn't judge.

Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve Turkey Feast: Includes two oven-roasted turkey breasts, cornbread dressing and turkey gravy, cranberry relish, sweet potato casserole, choice of two country sides, sweet yeast rolls and pumpkin and pecan pies for dessert. Starts at $154.99, serves 8-10 people.

Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve Turkey Family Dinner: Includes one turkey breast, cornbread dressing and turkey gravy, cranberry relish, sweet potato casserole, choice of one country side and sweet yeast rolls. Starts at $104.99, serves 4-6 people.

Do you feel tired just thinking about having to heat all that food? (I'm right there with you.) Cracker Barrel will bring hot food to you for big get-togethers or individual meals. You can order up a turkey and dressing meal with gravy, cranberry relish, slices of sugar-cured ham, choice of sides and bread, or look at a few of their new options:

We get it. Prepping a Thanksgiving feast for your loved ones can be a lot. But if you're completely overwhelmed and ready to throw in the towel, there are plenty of options to choose from, from going out to a restaurant or ordering a spread to go.

To be honest, Cracker Barrel had me at cinnamon roll pie, described as "cinnamon rolls baked into pie crust with cream cheese icing." Diners can choose a slice or make it a breakfast with eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, and choice of breakfast side.

Other seasonal favorites include the country-fried turkey (because why not?) with gravy, two sides, cranberry relish and your choice of buttermilk biscuits or corn muffins, and the pancake tacos, a new item available through Nov. 21 that consists of two buttermilk pancakes folded and filled with bacon, fried egg and cheese, served with a side of maple syrup and choice of breakfast side.

The Thanksgiving Heat n' Serve Family Dinner (serves four to six) includes oven-roasted turkey breast with turkey gravy, sweet potato casserole, cornbread dressing, cranberry relish, choice of one Country Side and sweet yeast rolls. Cost: $99.99

Grill & Fryer Note: Cracker Barrel does note potential cross-contamination with all top allergens for items prepared on the grill or in the fryer. They use soybean oil for frying, and several fried items do contain milk. Butter is used for seasoning several grilled items. If this is a concern, call ahead to see if your location can prepare your items with separate clean equipment. And be sure to clarify that no butter and no other types of dairy are used on your order.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: All items listed below are made without peanuts and tree nuts. All items listed below are made without egg or gluten unless otherwise noted in the title or in parentheses. Many of the following menu items are listed as containing soy due to the cooking oil. Speak with your server to custom order without soy. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

Heads Up! Make sure to order the eggs without dairy and that your order is not prepared with or served with dairy butter. You might be able to request dry Sourdough Bread or Multigrain Toast instead of Biscuits & Gravy with the egg breakfasts.

Heads Up! The BLT is reportedly made with a dairy-free bun. Ensure the dairy-free bun is used if ordering a burger. Also, make sure to verify that no butter is used in grilling or toasting.

Heads Up! On the Cracker Barrel menu, these items are often listed with sides and sometimes sauces that contain dairy. Select dairy-free sides and sauces (all listed below) for your order, and ensure there is no butter in the preparation. The Biscuits and Corn Muffins do contain dairy, but you might be able to substitute another dairy-free side or Sourdough Bread.

Heads Up! The vegetable items listed above are supposed to be made without dairy butter. But as noted, some restaurants and kitchens can and do make liberties. As always, make sure that the staff is not choosing to use butter in cooking rather than following the corporate recipe.

Heads Up! Some readers have reported that certain Cracker Barrel locations use bacon grease or lard to cook their various Beans and Turnip Greens. This can vary by location. Ask to find out if they can be prepared vegan for you.

Menus, ingredients, kitchen procedures, management, food sourcing, and restaurant protocols are subject to change at any time. Always read the menu and discuss your dietary needs with the staff before ordering. Make sure they can accommodate your situation. This post is for informational purposes only, and should not be construed as advice.

There is always a risk for potential cross-contamination of allergens in any commercial kitchen. If cross-contamination is an issue for you, always speak with the manager to ensure that your meal can be safely prepared. Listings here do not guarantee that a restaurant is safe enough for your individual needs. Only you can make that decision.

Each location of a chain restaurant has different management and staff, and some might have different owners. This means differences in processes, ingredients used, menu options, and food sourcing can occur. Always verify the safety of your order for your needs at your current location.

At cracker barrel now in Bowling Green Ky. The manger and waitress both agreed that their allergen menu needs to be updated. Several things that I tried to order (that were listed dairy free) DO contain dairy. Including: green beans, corn, and sweet baby carrots . Please always speak to the staff.

I think the waiter will make ALL the difference in the experience because he went and asked the kitchen & the green beans say safe on the website and allergen menu, however the cook mentioned there IS butter in the green beans.

You should update the article and say that Cracker Barrel is unsafe. If the premise has changed it is misleading to force folks to the comments section. The grill coating has dairy and there is cross contamination everywhere even if they cook in oil. The cook told me it was simply not safe. Cracker Barrel is not dary free.
