East Asia Modern... and Beyond


Call for Papers
The BU Graduate Conference on East Asia aims to provide a forum for
graduate students from various institutions and diverse disciplines to
share ideas and to discuss their works in progress with peers.


As an interdisciplinary conference, the Graduate Conference on East
Asia will include topics focusing on East Asian history and
international history as pertains to East Asia, in addition to the
current East Asian political, socio-economic, and cultural climates.


Participation is encouraged from those interested in presenting papers
based in disciplines such as History, Economics, Anthropology,
Sociology, and modern East Asian Literature, in addition to Political
Science and International Relations.


The BU Graduate Conference on East Asia is intended for students at
all levels of their graduate careers. The conference aims to provide a
positive and inter-disciplinary setting in which students can discuss
their research with their peers as well as those members of Boston
University faculty who share expertise in various East Asian Studies.

Student participants are invited to present completed term papers,
research proposals, thesis chapters, methodological models, outlines
of dissertation proposals, or any other written work in progress, as
accepted by the conference organizers.


The conference will be held for a half-day, including dinner and
keynote address, on Friday, November 31st and for a full day on
December 1st, 2007.


The conference organizers ask that all abstracts for presentations be
submitted by October 15th, 2007
