Is there any updates on Ni-mate / tryplex world?

New ni-mate beta gives errors when importing preset. Don't know is it something to worry or not.

Anyhow.

Hi Emer,

I've been waiting for the 1.0 version to come out for the next big update (that's now), and from next week I'll be adapting the tryplex package to that!

Sebastian.

It seams that Ni-mate is out and Ni-mate -> OSC -> Tryplex is broken?
heh, shit.

Hi Jon,

No nothing new, accept the already posted ni-fix. I'm a bit hesitating about ni-mate, wondering if it's the way to go. It really works and performs great, but the pricing/one kinect per serial limitation keeps it a bit from the 'open-sourciness' i'd love to have with the tryplex toolkit as well as it's purpose to use it easily in workshop environments.
Next month I'm starting with a new kinect project, and that'll be the moment for me to release updates for the toolkit as well.

What do you think? Also, you've been quite busy on the kinect front if there's anything you think you can contribute let me know!

Best,

Sebastian.

Hi Seb.

I agree with your thoughts about NI Mate. In addition i'm sure the CPU is more intensive. However I haven't found any other solution for outputting the kinect live video feed ("syphon"-ed) whilst using skeleton tracking. Along with the automatic closet skeleton activation mode is vital (does OSCeleton have this function yet?). In addition the bend, bow, lean stuff is pretty nice.

Let me crack on with my kinect project and hopefully i can macro some stuff for the triplex project.

Cheers

J

I agree with open source logic its not so ok. But still at the moment I think Ni-Mate is the way to go for me. Same tool for so many things. QC tools, cinema workflow and more. The thing is at the moment for my testing Ni-mate is only simpe solution for using it realtime theatre pieces, and Sebastian I'm wiling to pay for that fun - if things just work.  Tryplex and Ni-mate world.

Problem in kinect world is that everything is changing so much, and so fast that I dont know anymore what to focus! I need tool for my work what is reliable!

I'm on vacation ;)
