Before we dive into my black light party favors round up, here are a few tips to help with shopping for your glow in the dark party. Most important: remember that not everything that looks neon will glow. When shopping for my glow parties at the dollar store or party stores, I carried a blacklight flashlight in my bag so I could check items at the store.
SUPER-TIP: After my first glow party was over, I boxed up all the glowing goodies and fluorescent materials in a box together rather than storing them away with my normal party stuff. This helped me to easily keep track of the special stuff that glows. It also made it super easy to throw together an impromptu glow party when my kids wanted to have friends over on a random Friday night. Throwing a Glow Party with just a few moments notice is a total #SupermomMoment.
FLUORESCENT PAINTS. You can get neon tempera paint or acrylic paint for making decorations that will glow. You can also use glow-in-the-dark paint. One low-cost idea: try painting a whole pack of paper plates different colors and hang them from the wall with masking tape. You could also paint rocks for playing games or using as decor.
WHITE PAPER LUNCH BAGS. Either painted with designs or just left alone these will totally glow! Setup luminaries with battery-operated tealights or make an activity out of gluing googly eyes and yarn onto bags to make fun glowing hand puppets. You can also use white lunch sacks to hold party favors.
SERVING PIECES. I am a pretty big fan of white serving pieces all the time, but white serving pieces are a must for a glow party! A white plate will help enhance the glowing effect of your food table. If something glows really well, clear glass can be fun to show off the different color. Even if that particular food does not glow, serve it on something white!
The great thing about a Dark Party is that dancing around in the blacklight and checking out all the glowing stuff is sure to be a good time, but your guests might want a little something more to do. I found a black energy saver bulb at Home Depot. It works in any regular light socket, so you don't need to buy anything extra. It was about $5 and works so much better than the "black" incandescent bulbs you find elsewhere.

You have to have a good quality black light for it to work. At first I bought the cheapest one along with store brand tonic water and it didn't work. So I exchanged the store brand tonic water with name brand and it still didn't work. After realizing it was the light, I bought a good one and VOILA!!!
Aaaahh! It didn't work for us. I was so happy because I am throwing a "glow-in-the-dark/black light" birthday party for my son TODAY. We went to the store and bought the generic tonic water. When we took it into the basement and the black light it had an itty-bitty glow to it. We added it to jello and it didn't glow at all! SO SAD. What kind of tonic water did you use? Then, I threw an LED light underneath our drum (you could use a pop light or try glow sticks), wrapped a glow stick on each drum stick with a fuzzy stick, and we began our glow in the dark jam session!
You can see my husband playing the drum here and my daughter shaking her wrists alongside him. It was a blast! Since my daughter loves to dance, I added some of the bracelets to her ankles. It was incredible. The moves that she made up were amazing!

I'm just starting to work with glow-in-the-dark PLA, specifically Inland Luminescent PLA (If you're not familiar, Inland is a store brand for MicroCenter, a chain of computer and hobby electronics stores in the United States of America. As far as I've learned, the filament is manufactured by eSun). I've had some initial issues which I appear to have worked through, so I thought I'd share here in case anyone else ends up in the same situation.
I am using a hardened steel nozzle (the E3D V6, ordered with my Mk3). I did at least some reading early on and saw that luminescent filament will rapidly wear through a brass nozzle, and I wanted to avoid that. When using the steel nozzle, with either the luminescent PLA or regular PLA, I've found that it works best if I keep the nozzle temperature at 215C for the entire print - if I reduce down to 210, I run into clogging issues, and 220 led to excessive stringing.
I had a devil of a time getting the filament to extrude consistently and to adhere. Inconsistent extrusion would show up as the filament not coming out in a constant volume, and the primary result was much more brittle prints that would separate at the layers. The adhesion problem was especially present when turning corners, where the filament that had just been laid down would pull up as the nozzle changed direction and would then drag along behind, ruining the print.
