Thanks for that Bruce.  No worries on the current state of affairs in MN.  A lot of us are still getting revved up.

You bring up a couple of interesting points.

1.  Regarding the petition project.  First of all, the competition between OR and NY is good-natured, but very real.  We in OR don't intend for anyone to pass us, least of all our brothers and sisters in NY.  What I really want though is for OR to sit right behind KY -- in the 27th position -- to match our rank in population.  Since this isn't going to happen by OR slowing down, OR at 27 would mean the groundswell of civic action was upon us, or nearly so.

Everybody should read the article on the 911TAP Petition Project to understand our reasons for doing it.  It is here:  https://911tap.org/557-news-releases/661-the-911tap-petition-project

It is true that petition count is just a number, but it is a number that represents tangible things.  It represents our power as a movement.  When the number gets big, it will likely provide a morale boost to the truth movement as a whole and inspire people to work harder.  A big number gains us credibility with outsiders, who may be more inclined to check us out.  Petition count represents our growth -- one out of every 4 website signers volunteers for local action teams.  It is a measure of our effort at outreach, as every person signing a paper form on the street had to be asked by one of  us.  For every one who does sign, others do not sign but learn something that we want them to learn to prime them for next time.

There are benefits to just keeping count.  It helps self-evaluation -- how come almost no one signs in the first 15 minutes out there, but almost everyone signs in the last 15 minutes?  Is it the time?  Differences in energy, enthusiasm?  What?

Finally, some of us just like to compete and win.  I want to see the Pacific Northwest be the center of the 2nd American Revolution (a peaceful revolution).  If you want your region to be it, then you're going to have to outwork us.

2.  You bring up the issue of dealing with the hard-to-reach, the System-1 people.  A lot of effort and communication that we know about has gone into how to best handle these people.  Consider this approach: ignore them.  Do we need these people right now?  No.  We've already got tens of millions of truthers in this country.  If we simply asked them to sign up and join us they would.  We've got at least that many who are not 9/11 aware but are open-minded about 9/11.

It really boils down to how we want to spend the limited time we have available for outreach.  Is it worth spending 30 minutes on a hard case, with uncertain prospects for benefit?  Or is it better to use that time on a higher number of people who are either already 9/11 aware or open minded about 9/11?  I vote for number two.  In fact, I specifically try to identify which of three categories the person I'm talking to fits in:  1. Existing truther.  Sign them up and encourage to help.  2.  Open-minded, not 9/11 aware.  Provide the highest quality introduction to the case for a new investigation in 5 minutes or less.  3.  Closed-minded, not 9/11 aware.  Get them away from me as quickly as possible so I can talk to the next person.

So, I strongly recommend that everyone consider this approach to the hard cases.  Not only has it proved to be a more efficient use of time for me, but it's far easier on the emotional state to talk to people in the other two categories.  The hard cases may never be able to learn 9/11 from a stranger.  That's okay, let's teach their friends and let their friends try.
 More later.

Hello all,

I realize the MN connections have been quiet lately.  For me some personal reasons that end up taking more time and energy leaving less behind for work on this.  Sometimes it is like that and I think we all know the feeling/situation.  I am in awe of the work that you have all done and, in time, there will be more coming from MN.  We are still meeting and have some good ideas but looking for the resources (human mostly) to get them done.

Interesting quote from the Press Secretary today.

Sean Spicer defends inauguration claim: 'Sometimes we can disagree with facts'

It is similar to a friend of mine who, in the midst of our discussion about WTC 7, said...and I quote:  What is a fact to you may not be a fact to me.  I immediately wrote it down as this hits the core of our problems.  One might think that showing WTC 7 to someone and having them determine it is a controlled demolition on their own would be enough.  But that is not always the case.

This is summed up in the book  Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow by Daniel Kahneman
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thinking,_Fast_and_Slow
It is worth a quick perusal or even reading the book. In short, many people like to use System 1 thinking which is fast, instinctive and emotional.  I suspect that all of us here adhere to System 2 which requires analysis, science, facts (ooops verifiable facts), etc.  It may not make you win any more arguments (although it may) but it does help when your best friend is pissed at you for bringing up the topic again.

As far as the competition as to who gets more petition signers I would have you put your energy into doing that.  I know we all mean well and perhaps I am missing something but we do the work because we want the truth, not the plaque that says "I got the most signers".  I hope it is more of playful ribbing than an actual contest.  Good job to everyone who is working on that front and all other things that push our cause closer.

It is late, I'm tired and tomorrow I need to go to work to help pay for the war(s).  Ain't it grand.

With utmost respect,

Bruce

Hello there this is Sander Hicks reporting from Washington DC. So I collected a bunch of petitions this weekend. I have not counted them yet but I think they're in between 75 to 125. Not sure exactly how I submit them. There's also some New York people in there that were down here so I'm going to copy the contact info of course before I send it anywhere.

Dave I know exactly what you're talking about in terms of the centrist anti-conspiracy theory mentality of some of the more moderate Hillary people. I ran into that a lot this weekend of course.

But I don't think the building 7 image is
going to work for what you are trying to do. And I certainly don't think that insulting every other form of protest under Trump is going to get you what we want. You have to be positive and you have to ask people to recognize the common ground we have. And you do that by illuminating exactly what common ground we have, and not getting wrapped up in our movement's minute details.

In my case this weekend what worked for me is to say, hey we are all here in the peace movement. And what we're doing is against the state violence and evil and secrecy. And so if you are a person of peace and light, you want to sign this petition. It's that simple. If you are a real Democrat, then you don't like the Bush and Cheney official story about 9/11 do you? You understand that Bush and Cheney are liars right? So therefore you support a new investigation into 911 right?

I turned a lot of "no's" into "yeses" using that strategy.

This is not about building seven. The thing you Think is your "smoking gun" can just as easily be dismissed by a Centrist denier, as a matter of choice.  And your personal passion for your "incontrovertible proof" works against you, because it turns you into just another person who is not listening.

BUT if you connect with people first, win trust, make them feel a sense of unity with you FIRST, you get a signature.

It took me a while to get into this but I am really into it now. In the next couple months, NYC will surpass Portland, in signed petitions. We will obliterate Porrland's dominance and never look back!! It's ON!

We are at 706 signers now on the website, up 15 from last week.
Early in the week a Samantha Penn email to the Southeast Region list brought in 5 or so.
A Facebook post for the D.C. events yesterday and today brought in a few more.
There were also quite a few from other sources that I don't know about, including 3 or so from New Jersey -- the first burst from that state that I've seen. A few from Colorado and elsewhere.

There are 20 new paper petitions this week, not counting the work being done in D.C. this weekend -- they will be added to the website total tomorrow. Henry MacLean (Boston-area) sent in 11. I picked up 9 last night and this morning in a couple brief periods between the raindrops. Last night I got 7, 4 from the anti-Trump rally area after the parade left, 3 from my standard, covered, area in front of a food co-op.

This morning I got 2 at the pre-women's march rally. This was over about 20 minutes before the rain hit. I probably talked to a dozen people. Overall, they were more receptive to talking to me, as a petition gatherer, than normal. However, they were actually less likely to sign the petition than normal. These were primarily mainstream Hillary supporters. They not only did not know much about 9/11, but they were adamant that 9/11 is a waste of time in light of the ruination about to rain down on American at the hand of Adolf Trump. I found myself using phrases to these people that I almost never have to use, and it seems clear that we need to re-do our messaging to have a chance of reaching these people. And it's definitely worth getting good at this, as it looks like anti-Trump protests will be here to stay.

I think we need a flyer design, or designs.  I am going to start looking at something like this message:

"If this is a controlled demolition
<Picture sequence of Building 7 going down>
Then the people behind 9/11 are still in control
of our government
and our media.
Protesting anything else is just rearranging the deck chairs."

I am going to lay out a quarter-page flyer like this to accompany the brochure. If anybody wants to collaborate, I would love to. We don't need to shoehorn all of our ideas into a single design -- we can make several.

Dave
