As always, Thanks for your continued support.
Phase XII- Supporting Yamini Foundation
This time TI is aiming to empower the kids with special needs again
FYI: http://yaminifoundation.org/
In Yamini, there are 62 Children with mental retardation who need special educational services, among them more than 50% of these children also have other perceptual problems (Hearing Impairment, and motor deficits (gross motor and fine motor impairments). Most of these children are from poor families who live and they live in slum areas of Secundrabad. They need to be picked up at their stay or a point nearer to their stay, till where the bus/van can has access and have to be dropped in the school.
99% of the children with disabilities who attend regularly Yamini foundation to get rehabilitation services are from the families of below poverty line and most of their parents are either daily wage laborers or rickshaw pullers by occupation. Children who attend Yamini have to travel over five miles at average. Most of them come from the places where there no availability of public transport system.Another important issue is the occupation of their parents. As both the parents of most of the children are engaged in daily wage work; they neither can escort their children nor afford somebody to do it for them. Therefore the only way out is to provide them the transport system with a person to escort.
Proposed Estimation:
School van (WINGER) :Rupees 5, 87, 228.
TrueIndia is ready to take up responsibility in contributing to the transportation (school bus) i.e., providing the access for the education by equipping with transportation facility who live far from the Yamini Foundation’s Special Education centre. The van, for which will be contributing used for picking up the children and dropping them in the school.Yamini is ready to take up responsibility of appointing and maintaining a driver and also an ‘aya’/’care taker’ by paying them monthly salary and other allowances as well as maintaining the vehicle.
There are over 30 million (3%) mentally retarded children in India, of whom hardly a fringe attend special schools or get vocational training. For vast majority there is no help because of the lack of resources. A little help on our part can and will bring these numbers down.TI has come into look out for supporting endeavors and is taking initiative to ensure continuous educational services for these special kids at Yamini Foundation. We encourage you to continue the support and your contribution will help them to grow, educate and develop.
