Role Summary:

Job Title: AWS Engineer

Location: Kansas City, MO (Onsite)

Type : Contract

AWS core services: EKS, EC2, VPC, SG, ALB/NLB, CloudWatch, IAM, Secrets Manager Real-time systems (desired quality): WebSocket lifecycle, low latency audio/streaming constraints Kubernetes: pod lifecycle, HPA, resource limits, rollout strategies, multi-pod traffic behaviors Observability: OTEL, percentile-based analysis, latency analysis, log correlation across services CI/CD pipeline: deployment scripts, quality gates, deployment strategies; GitLab, HELM

Skills:

• Deploy and run services reliably on EKS (Helm, env-driven configs, health checks, rollout/rollback)Debug deployment, connectivity, and latency issues using CloudWatch, logs, metrics, including network timeouts, firewall rules, cpu/memory sizing, and other infrastructure components
• Build dashboard for application observability Tune runtime performance Automate operations with infrastructure as code
• Create automated alerts for performance thresholds Secure runtime configurations – secrets integration with deployment pipeline, auditability, encrypted storage
• Abilities Systems thinking – connect application behavior with infrastructure behavior Incident response – quickly triage and isolate issues and identify path to resolution.
• Reliability – proactively design and identify improvements for system reliability
• Cross-team communication – coordinate and communicate environment changes to reduce the impact on teams and system uptime Change safety – execute gradual changes; tests and validate to ensure minimal impact to production with rollback readiness
• Nice-to-have” skills and years of experience:
• Understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) concepts is a plus 2. 3
