Last night we had Thankful service. Many of folks gave testimonies how
what they were thankful. I told them that the testimonies were as much
preaching as many churches have in one year.
I preached this message in 1997.

THANKS UNTO HIS NAME
1 Chron. 16:8; 34-41
Introduction: Throughout the scriptures the names of the Lord and the
giving of thanks to it. Let me give you a few to wet your appetite: 2
Samuel 22:50 "Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the
heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name." Psalm 18:49 "Therefore
will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises
unto thy name."
Psalm 92:1 "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing
praises unto thy name, O most High:" Psalm 106:47 "Save us, O LORD our
God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy
name, and to triumph in thy praise." Psalm 122:4 "Whither the tribes go
up, the tribes of the LORD, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks
unto the name of the LORD. Psalm 140:13 Surely the righteous shall give
thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence. Hebrews
13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God
continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
I am convinced that many of us complain and murmur before the Lord
instead of giving thanks unto the Lord. This Thursday is the day that our
government has designated as Thanksgiving Day. I believe we would be a
much happier people if every day would be a thanksgiving day. Some people
think only of the turkey that they will eat that day. Some people think
of all the parades that they will see. Some think of all of the football
games that they will watch that day. Some think of the great sales that
the stores will be having the day after Thanksgiving. Some people wont
have anything that they feel that they could be thankful for.
When I think of thanksgiving I think about our Lord Jesus and what He
done for you and me on the cruel cross of Calvary. So I want to look at
some of the names of Christ and what they should mean to us this
Thanksgiving season. To give this message a theme I have taken the word
"Thanks" and made each letter represent the names of Christ and why we
ought to be thankful.

Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then
shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my
Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
II. THANKS BE UNTO THE LORD JESUS FOR
