The Day Bill Came To Church
===========================

His name is Bill.

He has wild hair, wears a t-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and
no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four
years of college.

He is kind of esoteric and very, very bright. He became a
Christian while attending college. Across the street from the
campus is a church. The members of which are well-dressed and
very conservative.

They want to develop a ministry to the students but are not sure
how to go about it. One day Bill decides to visit that church.

He walks in wearing his jeans, t-shirt, wild hair, and no shoes
and starts down the center aisle looking for a place to sit.
The church is completely packed, and he can't find a seat.

The members look a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything.
Bill gets closer and closer to the pulpit, and when he realizes
that there are no seats left, he just sits down on the carpet.

By now the members are really uptight; tension fills the air.

Then, from the back of the church, a deacon has silver-gray
hair, a three-piece suit, and a pocket watch. He's a godly man,
very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a
cane, and as he heads toward Bill all the members are saying to
themselves, you can't blame him for what he is going to do.

How can you expect a man of his age and background to understand
a college kid sitting on the floor? It takes a long time for
the old man to get down the aisle. All eyes are focused on him.
The church is utterly silent. The minister can't even begin
preaching until the deacon does what he has to do.

When he reaches the front, the congregation watches as he, with
great difficulty, lowers himself and sits down next to Bill so
he won't be alone.

When the mister gains control of himself, he says,
"what I am about to preach, you will never remember.

What you have just seen, you will never forget".

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie====================== An older, tired-looking
dog wandered into my yard; I could tellfrom his collar and well-fed
belly that he had a home and waswell taken care of. He calmly came
over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head;he then followed me into
my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell
asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The
nextday he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside andresumed
his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued
off and on for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar:
"I would like to findout who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is
and ask if youare aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to
myhouse for a nap." The next day he arrived for his nap, with a
different notepinned to his collar: "He lives in a home with 6
children, 2under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his
sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Dear Bertha .

I'm reading more and dusting less.

I'm sitting in the yard and admiring the view

without fussing about the weeds in the garden.

I'm spending more time with my family and friends

and less time working.

Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experiences to savour,
not to endure.

I'm trying to recognize these moments now

and cherish them.

I'm not 'saving' anything; we use our

good china and crystal for every special event such

as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped,

or the first Amaryllis blossom.

I wear my good blazer to the market.

My theory is if I look prosperous,

I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag of groceries.

I'm not saving my good perfume for special parties,

but wearing it for clerks in the hardware

store and tellers at the bank.

'Someday' and 'one of these days'

are losing their grip on my vocabulary.

If it's worth seeing or hearing or doing,

I want to see and hear and do it now !!

I'm not sure what others would've done

had they known they wouldn't be here

for the tomorrow that we all take for granted.

I think they would have called family members

and a few close friends.

They might have called a few former friends to apologize and mend
fences for past squabbles.

I like to think they would have gone out for a Chinese dinner or for
whatever their favourite food was.

I'm guessing; I'll never know.
It's those little things left undone

that would make me angry if I knew

my hours were limited.

Angry because I hadn't written certain letters that

I intended to write one of these days.

Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my husband and parents often enough
how much I truly love them.

I'm trying very hard not to put off,

hold back, or save anything

that would add laughter and lustre to our lives.

And every morning when I open my eyes,

tell myself that it is special.

Every day, every minute, every breath truly is a gift from God!

Today's Prayer
Dear Father in Heaven, please hear me this morning. I am sorry for my
failures as a family member. I pray that you will forgive me where I
have messed up, and will give me wisdom and knowledge and grace to do
better. I pray for every family, that you will bind them together in
love, that every member will uplift and support one another daily--in
all circumstances and challenges that come. Help us to be forgiving
and understanding. I pray for your blessing upon those who seek your
will and your continued anointing upon the family unit. May we all
look to you with our whole hearts and turn to you for help in times of
trouble as well as look to you with praise and celebration in times of
joy. You tell us in your Word that we are to be thankful in all
things. So I am thankful for even the trials that bring us closer
together. Thank you, Father, for loving me and surrounding my family
with your protection. Please continue to have mercy upon us and bless
us according to your will. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Retirement or a New Assignment?
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2, by Os Hillman
10-29-2008

For a man may do his work with wisdom, knowledge and skill... (Eccl
2:21).

He didn't begin this job until he was sixty-nine years old. He had
already had a successful Hollywood movie career and decided to try his
hand at politics. He would be known by one job more than any other. He
would also be known as one of the United State's greatest statesmen.
He had a faith that was genuine but not intruding or very public, but
you knew where he stood. He always treated people, even his detractors
with grace. He was known for his extraordinary love he had for his
wife.

His name was Ronald Reagan, and he did not begin his greatest work
until he was sixty-nine years old. By this season of life, most are
thinking of retirement in Florida. Ronald Reagan decided to run for
President of the United States and successfully served two terms as
our 40th President.

It was Reagan's faith that led him to see the Soviet Union as an "evil
empire." He'll be remembered as the President who brought down
communism in the Soviet Union. And it was his Christian faith that
gave him the quiet confidence and self-certainty that made him a great
leader and earned him the title "the great communicator."

Where did he get his spiritual values? There were a number of
influences. First and foremost was his mother, Nelle Reagan. I'm
confident that had Nelle Reagan died in the winter of 1918-19 - a near-
victim of the devastating influenza epidemic that killed millions of
healthy, middle-aged mothers around the world - Ronald Reagan very
likely would not have become President. It was Nelle who insisted her
boy go to church-a request he happily obliged-and it was in church
that Reagan picked up not only those core beliefs and values, but also
the intangibles so vital to his success: his confidence, his eternal
optimism (which he called a "God-given optimism"), and even his
ability to speak. Indeed, history has also overlooked the fact that
the Great Communicator found his first audiences in a church. He
learned to speak in a church.*
Consider this: Your greatest work may yet be ahead of you. Don't let
age keep you from being used by God.

Don't Worry============ Don't worry about anything; instead, pray
about everything.Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has
done.If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is farmore
wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard
your hearts and minds as you live inChrist Jesus. ~Philippians 4:6-7

Hi there hope you all enjoy the story below in the name of the Lord.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.

The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out
what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be
covered up anyway;

it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.

They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.

Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.
He was astonished at what he saw.

With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing
something amazing.

He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the
animal,

he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey

stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt.

The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a
step up.

Each of our troubles is a stepping stone.

We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving
up!
Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from God.

Clean Wash=========== A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.
The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the youngwoman sees
her neighbor hanging the wash outside. "That laundry is not very
clean," she said. "She doesn't knowhow to wash correctly. Perhaps she
needs better laundry soap."Her husband looked on, but remained silent.
Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the youngwoman
would make the same comments. About one month later, the woman was
surprised to see a niceclean wash on the line and said to her husband:
"Look, she haslearned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her
this?" The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned
ourwindows." And so it is with life. What we see when watching
othersdepends on the purity of the window through which we look.

A Lesson Learned From A Bug=========================== I pulled out
of my driveway heading for my mom's and noticed akatydid on my
windshield. This is rare for the area I live insince it is more city
than farm or wooded area. For those ofyou who do not know what a
katydid is, it is similar to agrasshopper. It is green but has a flat
(up-down) bodywhereas the grasshopper has a round body and is more
browncolored. As I accelerated, I noticed the wind was making his body
flutter, but the legs were securely attached to the windshield. I
wassure he would lose his battle to the wind, but he kept hangingon
body fluttering in the wind. He did this for a couple ofmiles. As I
slowed down one time he tried to re-adjust hisfooting. He released his
grip on the windshield with just oneleg and it was all over, he was
gone. That was a MountainWings Moment. The wind is our trials. The
windshield is like the word of God. When we hold on to our
"windshield" securely, we are secure. When things start to settle down
we often loosen our grip onGod’s word. We start to rely on our
strength and understandingrather than staying in God’s word. That’s
when the trials comeback and catch us unprepared and the trials drag
us away. If we hold firm to God's word, we will be ready for the
trialsas they come. ~A MountainWings Original by Mike Stull, Chino,

When your hut's on fire

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small,
uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him.
Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed
forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut
out of driftwood to protect himself from the elements, and to store his
meager possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he returned
to find his little hut in flames, with dark smoke rolling up into the
sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was
stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How
could you do this to me?"

Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship
approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know
I was here?" the weary man asked his rescuers. "We saw your smoke
signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story: Discouragement comes easily when everything
appears to be going badly; but despite everything, don't lose heart,
because God is always right where you are, at work in our lives, even
in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, the next time your
"little hut seems to be burning to the ground," it just may be a smoke
signal t hat summons the Grace of God . . . Help is on the way! Know
it.
