Iwork during the day in Inventor, with my "company" account. At nite, I work on my hobby stuff with my "personal" account using Fusion. Every time, I need to log out and log in, and I would like to know if there is a way to avoid that... why is the Fusion license directly linked to the Inventor license? They are different softwares, why can I not use a different account for each? I know it's not that big a deal, but it is an annoyance, specially that I use 2 factor login (need to get my phone out, open the app, get the code, blabla), and there is no way to say "don't ask again on this PC". So every morning, I go in inventor, and have to re-login because it figures that because I used Fusion the nite before with my personal account, that I should be wanting to use Inventor with that same account. I use very secure passwords that cannot be remembered, so I also need to get my password manager out, etc.. Then every nite, I need to do the same for Fusion.
Anyways, sorry for going on about it... Just want to know, is there a way that Fusion and Inventor can be ran with a different account, and Fusion would just remember the last account I used in Fusion, and Inventor would just remember the last account I used in Inventor, without looking at what account I used last in Fusion?
Unfortunately, I don't think this is possible, but if you use Inventor at work and Inventor is part of the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection, Fusion 360 as well is part of PDMC, so you should be able to use it with your work account.
So, using Fusion 360 with your personal account, you could invite your work email to the projects, so that you can use then Fusion 360 with the work account accessing to the hobby stuff and at the same time, using the applications of PDMC side by side.
Thank you for your explanation. That is correct, I am using the manufacturing collection, so I can see a bit better why the license is going across. I guess if I had a standalone license of each software it would not do that.
Unfortunately, I cannot really do what you suggested, because in my hobby account I have teams from other people too, and I don't want to start getting to link their teams to my work account. I guess I'll just have to live with it!
I have a similar problem, except for me it is two versions of fusion 360. the first one I had was for a single seat for hobyist. I downloaded that last January. In july my company decided to switch from FeatureCam and a very old out dated version of Inventor to Fusion. Now I can't seam to get rid of my single seat and switch to the team. I no longer need the single seat version. I have been able to share files and everything but I am not using the correct team license.
I was working as a Student in this company on many different projects with my Student account. Now i am working in this Company and we bought a few Fusion360 licenses and got a Team Hub for our department.
No there is no main-assembly where every file is linked, i know about the possibility to make a f3d file from a construction. There are hundreds of single files with different versions, exported parts and norm parts.
The only way I know of to move projects like that is to move the project from your personal hub to your company's team hub. To do this, your student account needs to be invited to the Team Hub. Then, once invited, visit A360 and on the drop-down list for the project should be a Transfer option.
The transfer button that you were mentioning is no longer located there (next to individual projects). You can use this guide here which includes a Team Hub Transfer Wizard to move projects from Single User Storage, or an existing Fusion Team hub, to another Fusion Team Hub.
Can you walk me through your steps? Per that screenshot, that option is no longer available. You have to use the Wizard i linked to in my last post. Does that end up redirecting you at all? Can you try in an incognito Window? Just curious if there is a step I am missing - it should be a wizard with a unique dialog that walks you through moving the project.
Do you mean using the "Fusion Team Hub Onboarding site" option? When I click that I only get an option to move some old junk folder I left on my old personal account to either of my team hubs but I don't see any way to transfer between the 2 hubs. I do have my team hub set as my default and I'm logged in in another tab. If I cancel out of the dialog below it takes me to my old personal hub. Do I need to transfer or delete these project first?
Oh... so there should be a dropdown in the upper left of the left hand column that lets you switch between Single User storage or Fusion Team. Let me check a few things on my end. Feel free to email me at
james....@autodesk.com too. These can be hard to troubleshoot over the forum since theres a lot of sensitive data/names/etc.
I've just set both accounts so the invited member(me) is set as Team Administrator and no difference. Tried using the onboarding site on both accounts and the only option I get is the original personal hubs on the left to transfer to either of my team hubs, no dropdown.
Really I'm only experimenting how you'd transfer a project to a customer if you've done work for them but this seems like it's been made way to difficult. What about just a simple copy project to another hub. Questions have come up a few times on the forums about moving\copying projects and folders to other hubs, surely this should be easy and something you can find within your hub.
I am going to be following this, as I had these same issues when I was trying to transfer from my student account to a new seat that my work had bought. Luckily, I was able to extend my student account for 6 months but I need to find out how to transfer all my files over without losing them. I went through and created a new hub and didn't have the transfer option when I was trying to transfer my files either.
