Hey Folks,
Hope you all are busy hacking away at stuff! This mail intends to
announce what is probably my department's first ever robotics contest,
scheduled to be held during IISc Open Day. The agenda revolves around
the autonomous car concept, requiring the participants to design
autonomous cars which can navigate a highway during a simulated peak
traffic hour. The highway is modelled using a black/white line on a
white/black background and the cars are supposed to trace the line,
while reading traffic signals and avoiding obstacles and other cars.
They can change lanes as real cars would in situations. The track will
be designed such that even the most basic 2 sensor line follower can
do it, but only the best algorithm wins.
Participation is open to anyone and everyone. Spot registrations are
allowed. Hardware can be purchased outright. There are no sharp turns.
No broken lines and other such line follower intricacies. We don't
intend to test your soldering skills or hardware capabilities. We'd
rather focus on the algorithmic part. Prizes to be won include a bunch
of boards from TI, amongst other things.
