1) I personally toured a fully-complete-waiting-on-the-furniture local
space in Albany. It hasn't been announced yet and it has no
affiliation with the previous failed attempt. The owner is a real-
estate mogul who "just wants to see this happen". The space is an ex-
night club (I drank there in my twenties) and its going to be pretty
exciting. The expected opening date is Feb 1.
2) I found a similar initiative going on here in Troy backed by some
pretty heavy hitters in the VC world. The original angle was more of
a startup accelerator, but after chatting I convinced them that I
could fill up part of the 10K sq ft. they were devoting to internet
startups to our coworking initiative. Its going to be a very exciting
place to be; who knows, we might get to be a part of the next big
thing :) Their expected opening date is March 3rd.
3) My own office here in troy is going to open up 4 desks, for free,
to anyone interesting in hanging out with us. We're a full time
software shop, space includes internet, couches, conf room, etc. If I
get a large response to the offer I might be able to find a few more
spots. If you're interested let me know.
Long story short, then end goal for me is to see a space like this
open up in the area (preferably in Troy). Before I fund my own, I'd
like to see the first two efforts play out. Why work on a third space
when the first two are almost open, ya dig? With that said, I'm going
to personally work with both of them (and fill you all back in on the
results) to make sure they actually happen. If they don't, I'll then
I'll go back to opening something myself. Either way, this IS
happening, so stay tuned right here.
Best,
B
Fantastic!

Even more fantastic! Does this space suit our needs?

I probably would be interested. I'd like to give this idea a spin.

Any more details on this? Where can I look for announcements?
I know the people building this. Very cool group. The basic idea is
to list and find available space, either in existing offices, or
co-working spaces.
If you travel out of town and need a place for a day, I highly
recommend using the service.
Free for now. Not sure what they're doing in the future.

Oh cool! I think I'll be using that on trips.
