Hi folks,

I apologize for the multi-list spam for those of you who are on more
than one of these mailing lists.

I've been talking to Chris Hanrahan at Endgame how best to support the
Endgame RPG night. I know Mike Montesa has been organizing monthly
one-shot games on Thursday evenings:

I've also been working on an automated game signup system. I am trying
to build it up to the point where it can support the minicons. By
working first on a simple single-session event, it makes it easier for
me to get started.

I talked to Chris and he suggested Thursday's from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM
would be the best time. We arbitrarily picked the 2nd Thursday of the
month (mostly to avoid upcoming holidays). I tentatively labeled this a
"microcon" as a smaller sort of event than a minicon. I think a regular
schedule and an automated signup system will make everything easier to
manage.

Chris is going to publicize things through the store and his various
online contacts. I am pimping the idea around on the various mailing
lists I am subscribed to.

Are folks interested in something like this?

Paul

I'm definitely interested, though I don't currently have something to run. :-)

Sounds good to me and glad to see I'm not the only one trying to keep this particular torch lit.

As I like to say, "If you run it, they will come."

Previous RPG nights have failed from lack of players as much as lack of GMs. So showing to *play* is, in fact, a significant contribution.

Very true. I made a point of showing up to play in Jacob's Sufficiently Advanced game the other week to support this (and because I really wanted to play SA!)

In my experience, you gotta pimp your game and be enthusiastic about it too. When you get a thread up (on the EG forum anyway), don't just let it sit - get in there and fish for players and keep it at the top of the list until game day.

Also, The New Hotness is usually easier to get players for than something older, but if you pitch it right, you'll get players for anything.

I had to cancel a couple games because of no/not enough players, and unannounced no-shows suck, but I do it now simply because I want to.

Jacob has a game up right now by the way:

Jacob's a great GM and if you can make it, by all means, sign up!

I'm definitely interested but unfortunately Thursday nights are no
good for me! But if my schedule ever changes then I will be there. =)
