Lan moved as quietly as he could through the jungle. This skullduggery
wasn't for him. He wasn't built for it, wasn't trained for it, and it
didn't suit his character. The necessity was clear- they couldn't face
the might of those females- but it grated on him. Between that and
Daram's recent death- yes it had been necessary but still it didn't
feel right- he was starting to feel conflicted about the path he was
walking.

All the things done in the name of expediency the past few days were
wearing on his soul. He could almost feel the weight of the negative
acts pulling down on the light of his heart. Though he hadn't done it,
he had been about to kill Daram himself. It would take a good deal of
meditation and atonement for him to feel right again.

But that was for later. What was done was done. For now the issue was
survival. For him and- hopefully- for his people. He noted the flaw in
the plan- three groups, all of whom would have no idea what the others
were doing- and took steps to correct it. Crouched in the middle of
the jungle with failure meaning certain death was no way to approach a
mental exercise, but Lan took his breaths and focused his mind.

The mindlink was so common as to be akin to speech among his people.
But around the lesser races it was a strange thing, not something to
be taken into consideration. Until now.

Lan opened his mind and reached out to Bryn and to Leif, being as
quiet as he could to avoid detection by the females in the village.
Leif was simple- he was an initiate- and his mind blazed brightly in
Lan's memory. Bryn should not have been any more difficult, but her
thoughts had taken on an odd cast. Foremost in her mind were survival
and hunger. Her eyes caught movement more readily than his own did,
she wanted to catch and eat things that he hadn't even noticed.
Eventually, though, Lan was able to shape his broadcast into an
appropriate form.

~There now. That should make things somewhat simpler. What do you see,
Bryn?~ The thoughts appeared in both Leif's and Bryn's heads without
preamble, without warning. The shifter, at least, should have
recognized what was happening.

OOC: Uses Mindlink to open up communication between him, Leif, and
Bryn. Takes a Concentration check to try to dispense with the
telepathic display (should be an easy check to make). Uses 2 PP. Up to
you, Fabian, whether to let this be 2 separate channels or an
X-Men-like mental network.

Hey Les, good post but one minor caveat. The range on that mindlink is 55 feet. Since I'm
'nice', I'll let you reach Bryn (close call) but definately not Leif who is more like 100
feet away.

Angie, feel free to 'talk' to Les (Lan) although an intrusion on Bryn's mind should
probably scare her half to death given the circumstances. :)

Yeah, I was hoping you'd ignore that. I was actually worried about
reaching Bryn since I didn't realize Leif was so far away. Oh, well. I
guess I should've done it while we were all standing together. I
snooze, I lose, I guess.

Heh. Yeah, I thought that, too. :)
