Hi,

I have been playing around lately with Ubuntu 11.10. Ubuntu currently
doesn't support using my 3G stick, so I have to run a proxy to it. I
just installed trosnoth 1.6 (source) and I tried joining to
play.trosnoth.org, and it seems that it wasn't able to due to the
proxy.

Here is the stack trace: http://pastebin.com/mPqwQq5m

I got this error but just hitting "Play" in the main menu. So, the
question is, how can I fix this issue - or isn't there a solution.
Ubuntu's proxy settings have been set, and are working as I'm
currently writing this from it.

Any ideas welcome!

Looks like the DNS request isn't being sent through the proxy. It's quite a common problem with proxies, unfortunately it's difficult to explain a fix without knowing what proxy software and network configuration you have. Essentially, you need to ensure you a proxying your DNS requests too. Alternatively, the easiest fix is probably to set the entry in your hosts file to prevent the lookup:

118.208.119.189 play.trosnoth.org

At least, that is what the A record currently points to, I am not sure if it's a dynamic IP. You'd have to ask Josh.

Cheers,
James

Yes, it's a dynamic IP, so that number's not guaranteed to stay the same.
