Matches" is a song recorded by American country music artist Sammy Kershaw. It was released in March 1998 as the second single from the album Labor of Love. The song reached #22 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.[1] The song was written by Skip Ewing and Roger Springer.
The song is about a man who meets a woman at a bar, where he offers to light her cigarette with a book of matches. Later on, the two break up, and the man uses the matches to burn down the bar where they met.[2]
The music video debuted on CMT on February 25, 1998. Kershaw came up with the video's concept himself, and Deaton-Flanigen Productions directed it. The video retells the song's story, using a lounge in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, to represent the bar's interior, and another bar in Hartsville, Tennessee, to represent the exterior. The actor who portrays the song's narrator sets the bar ablaze and then exits unharmed as the bar catches fire. According to Kershaw, he nearly canceled the video shoot after another building in Hartsville caught fire the same day, but was encouraged by the city's mayor to proceed with the shoot.[2]

When looking at the matches they have had against each other, this will look solely at singles matches. These men have faced off in big multi-man matches such as Blood & Guts, Stadium Stampede, and more, but the list would be unending if every tag team match was also included, so singles matches will just be looked at here.
It made sense in the context of the storyline, but it still felt a little underwhelming because of it. The pair still went crazy, though after seeing these two wrestle a fair few times, it would have been nice to see a slightly different style.
It was hurt slightly by using the exact formula of their previous bout in which there was a pre-match attack, though they still showcased some great chemistry and good technical wrestling at times too.
Jungle Boy and Sammy Guevara met for the first time ever in a singles match recently, battling to earn the right to face MJF for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing. They went all out with brutal back-and-forths in this one, going at a quick pace.
In the main event of AEW Dynamite, Sammy Guevara defended the TNT Championship against Darby Allin in what was a strong closing bout. This match was clear proof of how much these two men have improved since day one of AEW.
It was a very strong match that saw Allin show some ingenuity and desperation to keep hold of his title, as he had been on the ropes numerous times throughout his reign. They displayed good chemistry here and had a match with very few negatives.
This was a rather unique match compared to the rest of the four pillar singles bouts. Prior to the match, the pair had a big brawl including a brutal table spot and followed this up with a five-minute sprint of a match.
It went at 100 mph and added some brilliant variety to what was a great PPV from top to bottom. It felt like an urgent match with both men desperate to win, and their hatred for one another was felt throughout.
There were some criticisms such as Guevara kicking out of a top rope tombstone and a rather lackluster interference finish, but for the most part, it was a terrific match, with even those negatives being unable to detract from it too much.
Not only was this the best four pillars singles match in AEW, but it is among the best AEW matches of all time. Full Gear 2021 opened with an absolute show-stealer as two men had a masterclass of a match.
It was technical, violent, jam-packed with psychology, and had a tremendous story throughout. The animosity was felt, but perhaps the most notable positive to this match was that it proved MJF to be an absolutely world-class in-ring talent.

Of course, this is what detonates the internet. Again, I have no shame in admitting a laughed at the plethora of memes and jokes. However, I was very much angered by some of the more callous and inappropriate remarks made in a personal manner. This is not acceptable. J.R. has been through more than most of the internet trolls will ever experience in their lives. Kudos to Jim Ross for not quitting and for trudging through some dark and difficult times in his life.
However, I would be remiss to wonder if there is some sort of voodoo going on, where an incredible main event which should be talked about passionately, winds up taking a back seat to some inadvertent goof which then commands the attention of Twitter and podcasters.
Even though Mox was written off TV to be with his wife and child, I feel along with Eddie, they should have dethroned the Bucks, if at least for a month just to make a dent in their aura of invulnerability. Tonight marked the night where the Bucks fell and the cracks may begin to form.
These are the exact matches I want. If every match involving a champion is deemed a title defense, it is obvious who the winner will be. It should detract from the match, much like last Dynamite featuring Jungle Boy vs. Kenny Omega. This was incredible. It proved the young Jungle Jack Perry will be a future main eventer in the years to come, even though there was no way he would become champion.
As I wrote earlier, this match was phenomenal, and if anything, is a look into future top stars in the wrestling business. Whether AEW or elsewhere. Honestly, I love MJF, but put him behind the commentary table and he will excel for years to come. MJF selling the knee injury was really impressive. There were some obvious quick words with the ref during these moments, furthering speculation MJF truly did injure his knee. Having to be helped physically by Wardlow only amplified it.
Sammy is so goddamned impressive. I hope he develops in AEW and anywhere else he continues to wrestle. There are so many potential top stars in AEW, and whether they remain in AEW or go elsewhere, I truly hope this is a positive sign for the future of AEW and the pro wrestling industry as a whole.
