This story comes from something that I had been noticing for a while, and as time progressed, I saw it (just about) everywhere I looked. When you are out in traffic, and come across a jeep (not sure of the style, but the models that are built around the C-J, Wrangler series), look at the dashboard area (if you can). It more than likely will have at least one rubber duck, or it may have a whole bunch of them!

The other deciding factor for us to travel was that her sister (with the Jeep) had gotten word that she was being scheduled for a full open-chest heart surgery. We had been up to north Florida a few weeks earlier, so she could visit her sister (and I would deliver the bibles while picking up a large tarpaulin in Dothan, Ala.).

I had been (in the past) driving delivery routes all around Alabama for years. Still, I had never actually been through Decatur (and failed to realize that as Dothan is at the far southern end of Alabama, Decatur is close to the Tennessee state line). So the delivery of the bibles that was supposed to happen at that time was rescheduled for this last week. We traveled up to where her sister lives (in the Florida panhandle), and the next morning, I headed north with the old Dodge truck.

I told her that one way or another, an interesting story would follow me home! As I headed north on Ala. Route 231 (about 10 miles south of Montgomery), I had the need to take a break, and there was an old truck stop where I would frequently do my logbook layover at. As I pulled up to a parking spot, I found a jeep with quite a collection of rubber ducks on its dashboard. Upon coming out of the store on site, I asked a man standing near the jeep if I could take a picture of the jeep (and at all the ducks therein).

One of the most stunningly pretty birds is one that can be found in Michigan: the wood duck. The male has iridescent colors of green and purple on its head, stripes of blue on its wings, and a bright chestnut chest decorated with delicate white feathers. The female has shades of deep blues and purples on her wings, and a bold white pattern around her eyes.

On one of my bird photography outings, I was hoping to catch a glimpse of these beauties. Wood ducks are especially fun to photograph, as their iridescent feathers will shift and change colors as the birds move, resulting in all sorts of wonderful and different looks.

P.S. Kensington Metropark is part of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks system. The park covers 4,481 acres and has wooded, hilly terrain surrounding 1,200-acre Kent Lake. It offers a multitude of recreational activities throughout the year, from biking and boating to cross-country skiing and tobogganing. Sticker packs will include RANDOM stickers unless you specify in the order notes (on cart page) which stickers you want. This applies to the 5 pack and 10 pack. (every pack will get the Cool Mallard Mascot sticker.)

Shy ducks would not land in our decoys. We tried more decoys, less decoys, fancy decoys, calling, not calling, jerk strings. Nothing worked. When we built our spreader and threw it in the water the ducks cupped up and barreled in, acting like it was opening day. That is how Motion Ducks was born.

I am at the point of never using Firefox again!!!!! I have been using FF for over 10-15 years. I resent very very much that I cannot use Google as my search engine anymore. For the last month, Duck Duck has taken over and whatever I do Google does not work anymore. I even took my computer to an Apple store to fix this problem. Apple told me to contact FFox because they only work on Apple software and they suggested I use Safari. I have never used Safari in the 15 plus years I have used Apple products but I have started to use it because it "ALLOWS" me to use Google to search which FF does not. I am EXTREMELY angry to not be able to control my own computer and FF is the software that is causing this.

THANK YOU!!! Your solution fixed my problem. I really didn't know what Extensions and Add-ons were. When I have some time I will Google both of them to be educated.I removed all the Extentions and got rid of all the one click sites except for Google.

Please go to 3 Bar Menu (far right) Click then Options then SearchChange Default search Engine to what you want to use.Move down to the list and Click Go Duck Go (who's results are from Google)and then Click Remove at bottom.

Any system extensions that Firefox installs on its own are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious, duck-related, or mentioning search? If in doubt, disable or remove.

When I went to the 3 bar Menu Options was not there. I have the latest version of FF 57. I went to perferances (sic), put Google as default, went to Duck Duck and removed. It did not work. I cant even put www.google.com into the long internet space to the left of search. Immediately goes to DD. I don't care that DD is google!!

Heat a thin coating of canola oil in a small saute pan over medium heat. Saute the onion slowly, until soft but not browned, then transfer to a large mixing bowl. While the onion cools to room temperature, preheat your oven to 325 degrees. Add the ground duck and all the remaining ingredients to the bowl with the cooled onion. Mix thoroughly with clean hands until all ingredients are combined. Divide the mixture into four portions. Use a 3-inch diameter ring mold to shape the duck mixture into cylinders about 2 inches tall, or use your hands to form thick patties of approximately that shape and size.

Coat a large skillet with canola oil and sear one side of the meatloaves over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Flip the meatloaves and move the skillet to the oven. Cook for about 20 minutes, until they reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees (see Note).

Note: This meatloaf browns faster than a hamburger, so keep a close eye on the pan. If the crust looks like it will be too dark before the inside is cooked, transfer them to a new pan and put them back in the oven.

Also: I have used sous vide for hamburgers. This would be an ideal time. Make the patties, chill and seal in bag. Cook with immersion circulator for an hour at 135 or 140F, let cool for 1/2 hour or more. Then sear in a hot skillet.

Moe: Yes, sous vide works well for burgers. You could definitely try that method with these duck burgers. I am definitely making these more often, too, now that I know ground duck is so easily available.

The Little Duck Diner is a “vintage chic diner” reminiscent of dining cars and diners of the late 20’s and 30’s with a contemporary twist. Inspired by our “little ducklings,” our children, the diner embodies the youthfulness within all of us with the refinement and quirks of an era from which the “Diner” as we know it was born.

Strolling through the Townsend River Walk & Arboretum (TRWA) in winter is a serene experience and encourage you all to do so. There is always something on the trail that catches your eye weather it be a fox making tracks, the first sign of flowers awakening for their Spring symphony that is about to begin or ducks and geese on The Little River.

Yesterday I was fortunate to see a couple of geese sunning themselves on a high spot on the river. Big and beautiful they were enjoying the warmth of the sun. As I was watching them a pair of ducks swam by. These weren't your ordinary mallard or wood duck but some that I have not seen on the river before today. From the trail I watched them swimming up and down stream with the green necked, red billed, male in the lead and her brown head feathers flowing in the wind, female in close tow. Took some pictures and video to take home and do a bit of homework to find out what kind of ducks they were.

Common Merganser Duck on The Little River at the TRWA - February, 10 2021.Turns out, they were out-of-towners! The Common Merganser. They make there home up north during the summer and head a bit south for the winter but rarely this far south. Most stop in Virginia and Northern Kentucky and not going much further south. For more information see: Common Merganser on All About Birds.

If you get a chance head on down to the Townsend River Walk and Arboretum for a chance to see the Common Merganser. Walk about half way up the lower walk and look out on the river. They spend most of their time in the river and are beautiful and hard to miss. If you can't make it here is a little video of their graceful movements.
