Hello Leaders, Parents and Scouts:
I have a new reason to believe in the saying "The job is not over until the paperwork is done!" BSA has made some changes in their record keeping and there is one that effects us regarding the way our Troop does Scout Ranks. Our leadership had been giving out Rank patches to the scouts at the time they earned the Rank at the Board of Review meeting. Well, we can not do this any longer. Before we can purchase Rank patches, we have to turn in paperwork, very similar to what I have to turn in to purchase merit badges for each Court of Honor. Mr. Sharp and I discussed how our troop could remedy this and decided that we would give out Rank badges, once a month, at the Tuesday scout meetings and then continue to honor the moms at the following Court of Honor.
Sooo, given this, I am sending this e-mail to inform you all of this new information, as well as ask you to PLEASE let me know if your son has been promoted to a new Rank since our last Court of Honor in August 2014. I have sat on a couple of Board of Review meetings, but I want to make sure I have everything entered correctly, and purchase the correct Ranks for our hard working scouts.
Remember, our next Court of Honor is Tuesday, February 17th, so get your merit badges finished up and blue cards to me by February 11th! If you do a Rank board of review between now and February 11th, please let me know at the scout meeting so I can get them entered and you will receive your Rank and mom pin at the Court of Honor!
