Wilderness First Responder
Certification Class: June 26th to July 1st
SOLO’s Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers. The WFR is the perfect course for anyone
working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting or for individuals who want a high level of wilderness medical training for extended personal backcountry trips or expeditions.
The WFR is 71 hours long (seven days), and is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies
and Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. Although these appear to be the same basic topics covered in our two-day WFA course, they are covered far more extensively, and there is much more hands-on practice. Additional topics, such
as CPR, are also included.

First Aid Workshop
June 23rd @ 5pm
Accidents can happen any time but when you're off the beaten path, they can be a little harder to bounce back from. Learn how to use the gear in your pack to perform more than your basic first aid (splinting, wound treatment, environmental
protection). The more you know, the less you need, get an intro into making the most of what you carry with you and how to build your own kit. We'll be tailoring this to climbers, paddlers, hikers and cyclists. A brief presentation will be followed by some
skills demonstrations and then breakout groups where you and your peers can practice the skills learned with the gear specific to your particular flavor of backcountry adventure.
The class will have a fee of $20 per person and requires an RSVP. To sign up for the class please contact RRT at
