Below is information about the Klondike Derby.
The troop is registered and paid for so no need for scouts to do any of that as listed.
Our start time was changed 15 minutes later to 9:30, but we are sticking to our plan of meeting at Mr. A's house by 8 am.
Parents share this email with your scouts and have them look over the prospector guide.

The troop is supplying most of the equipment on the equipment list. Scouts are responsible for the following.
day pack
scout handbook
note pad or paper
pencil
compass if they have one
scout neckerchief if they have one
bundle of tinder and kindling to start a fire ( Zackary Falls is supplying)
Small bundle of firewood ( Zackary Falls is supplying)
matches
can of chicken noodle soup
hot cup
bagged lunch
drinking water
Proper dress for the weather conditions, no sneakers.

Subject: Klondike Derby 2026 - Reminders/Start Times

It’s Klondike Derby time!

With the Twin Lights 2026 Klondike Derby almost upon us, I had a few last minute reminders for you:

  • Attached are the Sled Roster and Unit Check-In forms. Please print them out and complete them prior to check-in.
  • At Check-in (at Dawson, which will be at Lawrence Lodge), we will be verifying the number of participants (mushers and townspeople) and the required registration fee payments. Please come prepared to make any additional payments that may be necessary.
  • Each participant will receive a patch, but additional patches will also be available for sale. There will also be a limited number of 2026 Twin Lights Mayor hats available for sale as well – good for town Deputy Mayors or as a Klondike Derby souvenir.
  • Wet weather is in the forecast for the event. Please reinforce with your Scouts the need to come appropriately dressed. As stated in the Prospectors Guide:
    • “The team will also be checked for proper dress for the day’s activities and the current and expected weather conditions. If a Klondike staff member feels a Scout is not dressed properly for the conditions, they will not be allowed to compete.”

This includes not wearing sneakers or open-toed shoes.

  • If you haven’t already, please provide a copy of the Prospectors Guide to each sled. There will be a limited number of copies available to reference at Dawson.

We did our best to accommodate requested sled times, but in some cases, more requests were made than there were slots available. Please note sled start times below (times different than requested are highlighted in yellow). As stated in the Prospectors Guide, please arrive at Check-In 30 minutes prior to your sled time so we can make sure your Mushers can get underway by their allotted start time.

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks.
