Dear Community Members,
It is with a mixture of nostalgia and sadness that we share the news Scouts BSA
Troop 224 will cease to exist, effective December 31, 2023. Troop 224, founded in
1998, has been an integral part of serving the Antelope community, fostering
servant leadership, camaraderie, and personal growth among our scouts.
The decision to close our Troop has been a difficult one, influenced by declining
opportunities to recruit in local school districts thus creating a situation where we
felt that our youth were not receiving true scouting experience. We recognize and
appreciate the support the community has provided throughout the years, and we
want to take a moment to express our gratitude.
Troop 224 has been more than just a scouting group; it has been a community of
families, volunteers, and friends who have worked together to instill values and
skills of service leadership through outdoor skills in our scouts. The memories
created during camping trips, service projects, and community engagement will
forever hold a special place in our hearts.
We extend our deepest appreciation to the community for its support,
encouragement, and engagement with Troop 224. Your involvement has had a
positive impact on the lives of our scouts and has contributed to the overall well-
being of our community.
While Troop 224 may no longer exist, the spirit of scouting and the values it upholds
will undoubtedly live on. We encourage our scouts and their families to explore
other scouting opportunities in the area and to continue the journey of personal
growth and community service. Should your child be interested in scouting please
use the troop finder on https://beascout.scouting.org/.
Troop 224 will hold its last Court of Honor to celebrate the achievements of our
scouts at Gibson Ranch on Monday, December 11, 2023, starting at 7pm.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support. The memories and lessons
learned in Troop 224 will endure.
Gratefully,
