Dear Girl Scout Cadette, Senior and Ambassador,
I wanted to let you know of an upcoming opportunity to take a class about invasive plant species at the UGA Griffin Campus. We are sending two staff members from Girl scouts of Historic Georgia – one staff member from our Property staff and myself, representing Program staff. We would also like to take a girl member who is interested in this subject. The girl who is selected should have a serious interest in plant biology and the topic of invasive species, and should also be willing and available to assist with council projects to control invasive plant species on our properties, or perhaps to even lead projects of her own. If this sounds like something in which you are interested, please email me by Monday, May 23rd, and let me know why you would like to attend. The selected person will have her registration fees paid, but must be able to get to and from the Griffin UGA Campus on June 17th (may be able to ride with attending staff if that is convenient).
Here is some more information about the workshop:
Attached is the agenda for a Georgia Exotic Pest Plant Council Invasive Plant Control Workshop to be held At the Griffin Campus of the University of Georgia on June 17, 2011. The cost is $35 and you can register online at www.gaeppc.org
This is the first invasive plant control workshop held in the metro-Atlanta area in a while. There will be experts conducting the workshop and CEU credits will be available. Please go to the www.gaeppc for more information.
Please pass this announcement on to as many networks as you think would be interested such as parks and Board of Education grounds staff, public works staff and other folks who maintain landscapes.
