Closing Down the troop

Hi ladies! 

I hope you all had a wonderful summer! I've been talking with the Girl Scout office about what to do about our troop. Since we haven't been able to find a new adult leader, we are going to have to go ahead and disband the troop. This mostly means that we'll close the troop bank account. The funds that are in the account will be able to go with those girls who choose to continue in girl scouts for the most part. Here are your options to continue in girl scouts:

1- join another troop. Erin Boydstun is membership specialist working with our county now and she can help you find a new troop. Her email is eboy...@gshg.org

2- join as a Juliette. Erin can again help you with this. A Juliette doesn't belong to a particular troop but is still a registered girl scout and can participate in GS activities.

We can use our troop funds to re-register anyone who's interested in participating in the ways listed above. Caley, Lizzy and Grace all joined GS last year and did activities on their own. If you want to register, please let me know asap. I plan on closing the troop account by the end of August. Any funds left in our account will be transferred to the new troops and/or to the Girl Scout council at this time. We currently have over $450 in our account.

Being your troop leader was a very rewarding experience for me. It was a pleasure watching you all grow into lovely young ladies. I hope you'll consider continuing your Girl Scout journey. It can provide you with many opportunities and open many doors for you!

PS- there will be a fun Teen Leadership Conference held at Camp Tanglewood in Augusta the weekend of Sept 21-23. Any registered Girl Scout can attend and we can use troop funds to pay for your registration ($60). If you are interested, please let me know and I'll get you the registration info.
