Here is slightly tapered very good quality Cyrillic Grotesk. Nevertheless, the aesthetics of monospaced fonts of the era of early computers and text editors has long been popular with graphic designers. I am trying to write an essay and I would like to use the San Francisco font, I have latest OSX update (El Capitan). I can see the files in System->Fonts, but I can't find the font in MS Word or Pages.
Currently the San Francisco font is the system font for all Apple devices (Mac, iPhone/iPad, Apple Watch, etc.) and Apple recommends developers use the sysetm font in their apps. However, this font won't show up in the font panel when selecting a font because it has a period in the beginning of the name. Unfortunately, the font is restricted by Apple license agreement for UI mockups and prototyping so the legality of doing this is murky. However, it is a great font for applications and actually has many great features that are exposed in the font panel 'Typography' pane. Apple should really make this more available for users.
What you were seeing was the file that had the SF font as the default, but we displayed a fallback font instead. So you weren't actually seeing the SF Font. That being said, the new iOS UI Kit provided by Apple has the font in the ZIP file, so you can probably install it from there.
The best I've found is this: Fonts - Apple Developer . Unfortunately, no idea how to get around the Windows issue. According to some articles I found on the web, the font relies on some Mac-specific features.
None of the current answers including the accepted one will use Apple's San Francisco font on systems that don't have it installed as the system font. Since the question isn't "how do I use the OS X system font on a webpage" the correct solution is to use web fonts:
San Francisco was first introduced in watchOS only. The next year at WWDC, Apple released the watchOS font as SF Compact and at the same time introduced SF UI (generally called SF) for OS X El Capitan and iOS 9. I'm doing all graphic design in a startup company of some friends, and a major part of our product is developing an app that should run on everything after iPhone 4. So after some researching (I have basically zero UI design experience) I figured we should use the San Francisco font for the app.
I managed to get the font from other sources, installed it, but it doesn't appear in either PS or AI. I also installed it on a different PC with a different Adobe CS version but that didn't work either.
Here are all the fonts you need. BUT, for some reason, at least in my case, if I install the italics I can not choose the regular font in an application.I don't know why and haven't tried anything like renaming or such because I just found all of this.Which is thy I have not installed the italics at the moment. But the rest works just fine.
Unfortunately Apple aren't too concerned with Windows users. They expect everyone who is designing for Mac to use a Mac. And since the San Francisco font has been created with specific features only available for Mac it is only available on Mac and unlikely to be available on Windows any time soon (unless someone decides to hack it, which is a possibility).
