I'm the Project Lead of Fallout 4 Ouachita Wasteland. We're about to start production on a DLC sized mod. We're looking for Modders to join our team because right now, it's just me and a concept artist. I'm no stranger to the Creation Kit, but it will realistically take a very long time if it's just me working on it. We already have a small community with our own public discord. We have two trailers currently on our YouTube, but we do not have new assets in game right now. I'll be adding some of our concept art here, and if you are interested, or have questions, let me know
I work alone, on a mod the size of a DLC (well, technically I've cut it into 2 mods now and only one is available for download at the moment (but still a WIP)). Took me 1.5 years to get here, probably another 1.5 to get it all done. The end result will be comparable to DLC06 (Vault tech / vault 88), So, yeah, it is a truck load of work and takes forever.
I did agree to help out the guys from Fallout London with a few tree's as the guy working on it had covid, or so i was told. But nothing ever came from that, as It turned out they only lured me in to be part of the team. Which I already refused. I totally don't see that mod as a 'fallout game/mod' (as it doesn't follow the lore. At all & lacks EVERYTHING that makes 'fallout' ... 'fallout', imho)
Thank you so much for reaching out. I completely understand your feeling towards mod teams and creativity. As for London? I haven't really looked much into it, so I don't have a developed opinion on it. I tried adding the concept art to this reply, but the files were too big, so I put a small selection on a Google doc
Furry animals and human clothing are the things I've yet to master. (I only did one helmet, but not perfectly & I've been working on a leather jacket (only the 3D model) which I have yet to finish & learn how to add it as proper clothing.
...but, I like it and would love to create some of it. If I can. The raider like outfit should be easiest, I think, as it closely resembles what's already in the game. I totally love the bottom outfit (& helmet).
The forest sign should be easy (have a bigger picture, maybe?) & that big building (I won't mention its name :P) is 100% within my current work & skillset, but that will require a lot of work & time. As my time is very limited, that would take quite a while to do. (I wonder how easy or hard (or impossible) it is to just grab it from FO3 and update it to FO4 "standards" with the added structures...
I also noticed there's a lot of green (trees) in those 2 pictures. As you might have seen under my mods section (or have a look) one of my bigger mods is a 'nature overhaul' adding leaves to trees and stuff like that. I wanted it to be a texture replacement mod but while working on it my fingers where constantly itching to modify the meshes & UV's. (Repair or correct, would be more specific for that junk Beth gave us as trees.)
I'm aware of Bethesda policy when it involves porting assets from one game to another (of their own)) but that's not what I was thinking about. It would be a 'starting point' saving some work & save me the headache of measuring and scaling it all correctly to fit the game. (As proportions and scale in a game are usually not as they are in the real world). Especially when it comes to the inside of the building.) - and even without the ban on assets from other games, I would never settle for a straight up copy.
The image is rather small and the details (like the text) are a bit hard to see & read. Although I suppose I could just run it through Cupscale/esrgan. (A.I. Image up scaling (x4)) which I used for my landscape textures), if this is as big as it is.
I'm kind of confused about what's going on with FO4SE mods overall. If you can even create a DLC-sized mod in general and what kind of mods you would be able to create if someone has a clear answer on whether or not you can do that, please do tell BGS has been grinding my gears lately I don't know why they do the s#*! that they do like WTF if it ain't broke don't fix it (or in this case make the game worse by giving PC users the worst gameplay experience ever) if they update fallout 4 I swear to god I will quit playing. So yeah, just wanted to know what's new with the community and what's available.
You can make anything in the 1.10.163 environment and then AFTER Bethesda is done releasing patches(it's not over yet) you THEN update to the newest environment and your data files and archives along with it.
I suspect the problem is that most fixes rely on a very small number of individuals, maybe just one or two people, which have very rare skills, like making plugins for F4SE and interface mods. In which mods rely many of the DLC sized mods, like, for example, pipboy tabs and extended dialogue interface. They probably are doing their best effort to get these mods working again, but I'm certain they are waiting for bethesda to stop throwing updates, so I'd say we'd need to wait at least a month, maybe.
A DLC-sized mod is posed to take Fallout: New Vegas fans outside the United States, taking the bits and pieces of lore about the greater world in the franchise and showcasing for the first time in the American Southwest and Mexico. That mod is Fallout: Nuevo Mexico, which interestingly uses New Vegas as the basis of the mod despite a few drawbacks. It's more common for mod projects like Fallout: London to use Fallout 4, but Nuevo Mexico didn't just choose this F:NV because of the setting's adjacency.
I think one of the main things New Vegas gave us was scripting capabilities. The New Vegas Script Extender has got other extensions, like JIP LN, Lutana, and all these different sorts of Script Extender downloadable content that people can get, and that all expands the code so we can work with more and do more scripting magic.
It's worth noting that Fallout 4's dialogue system has received a lot of criticism since its launch. In fact, there are Fallout 4 mods that overhaul the dialogue completely, but that's just one more thing that would have impacted this project to some degree. Fallout 4, at its core, is great for a linear experience, but it takes a lot more work for something more. What Zapshock envisions for Nuevo Mexico is a deeply realistic, immersive, and complex RPG experience, and at the end of the day, both Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas have drawbacks for the modding experience. New Vegas doesn't have as many available assets, after all, but New Vegas simply made more sense for this project.
The Fallout TV show release has fans interested in the Fallout games, and developer Bethesda has taken the opportunity to bring next-gen updates to Fallout 4. The game will receive performance and quality mode settings for consoles and get wide and ultra-widescreen support for PC.
There will also be quest updates added to the game, and a new Enclave questline is also coming with new weapons and armor. While fans were happy with this, this has led to the indefinite delay of the highly anticipated DLC-sized Fallout: London mod that was scheduled to launch later this month.
Team FOLON released an update video and announced that the mod is indefinitely delayed due to the upcoming next-gen update to Fallout 4 on PS5, Xbox, and PC. Since the update is also coming for PC, it will affect the existing mods, which will require them to be fixed before they can run with the new version that arrives with the update.
It also affects the mods still in the works. The mods run on the Fallout 4 script extender, which will be left broken by the update. This is why the developer had to delay Fallout London, and now there is no fixed release date.
