SHUKR has 2 sizing's charts to help you choose the correct size: 1) a general Body Size Chart and 2) a Garment Measurements Chart for each specific clothing item. Please refer to both charts to guarantee choosing your correct size. Use the body size chart to take the measurements of your own body and the garment measurements chart to see the measurements of the actual clothing itself, which you can then compare to any item of clothing you already own to see if it is similar or not.

Height: For best results, stand barefoot next to a doorframe, and then measure from the top of the head to the bottom of your feet. Even better, get a friend or family member to do it for you.

Lay out a similar garment you own flat on the floor or on a table. Using a soft measuring tape, take the following measurements

LENGTH: Measure the centre back of the garment, from the bottom of the neckline until the end of the hem at the bottom of the garment.

SLEEVES: Measure the length of the sleeve from the point of its attachment at the top of the shoulder, to the end of the cuff hem.

CHEST: Measure immediately underneath the armhole, across the chest of the garment.

SHOULDER: Measure from the point of sleeve attachment at the top of the shoulder on one side, to the same point on the other side.

Please note that customized items take an extra 3 days to process on top of the delivery times mentioned on our website, and have a no-return policy. We will produce the lengths you request, within a toleration level of up to 1cm (less than half an inch).

Important: Please refer to our Size Guide which you can find on each product page and make sure to refer to our Garment Measurement Chart inside this Size Guide to see the exact measurements of the garment itself.

Watch the video and follow the instructions to take the measurements of a similar product you already own in order to confirm that you are selecting the right size and to see what customized alterations in length you will require.

Polyester: Polyester is extremely easy to care for, which is why it is extensively used as a blend with other fibers. Polyester is strong and resistant to shrinkage, stretching, wrinkling, and abrasion. It is readily washable and dries quickly, perfect for people on the go.

Rayon: Rayon is soft and comfortable, and drapes beautifully. It is even more moisture absorbent than cotton, making it a comfortable fabric to wear all year long.

When SHUKR uses the term Viscose instead of Rayon to describe fabric, it refers to a higher quality fabric with extra sheen and softness compared to regular Rayon.

Fabric Weight: SHUKR has classified the different fabrics it uses into 4 different degrees of weight in order to help the customer make an informed purchasing choice:

1- Light weight - fabrics weighing between 75-150 grams per square metre (gsm). These fabrics are great for warmer weather and for layering all year round.

Fabric Type: Some customers are interested in knowing what the fabric construction is. There are 2 basic types of fabrics, categorized according to the type of machine that makes it: woven and knitted. Woven fabrics come in 3 main sub-categories: plain weave, twill weave and satin weave. Knitted fabrics, like the popular jersey, are normally stretchy fabrics that are good for t-shirts and tops, sportswear and comfortable dresses. Apart from jersey, other common knitted fabrics are French terry, ponte de roma and rib.

Fabric Code: SHUKR, like all companies, often uses the same fabrics for many designs. Repeat customers may like a fabric of a particular garment they purchased from SHUKR in the past and want to know what other products are available in this same fabric.

The dhoti, also known as veshti,[1] mardani, dhotar, jaiboh, or panchey, is a piece of cloth arranged around the legs to resemble trousers.[2][3][4] It is most popular in India and Nepal.[citation needed] The dhoti is a lower garment forming part of ethnic wear for men in the Indian subcontinent.[5] The dhoti is fashioned out of a rectangular piece of unstitched cloth, usually around 4.5 metres (15 ft) long, wrapped around the waist and the legs and usually knotted in the front.

The dhoti is considered to be the male counterpart of the saari worn by females to religious and secular ceremonies (functions).[6] A pitambar is a yellow silk dhoti worn on auspicious occasions.[7][8] The dhoti must not be confused with "dhoti pants" which are a new ready to wear trend, popular among women and typical of children.[9][10][11]

The pancha is worn by many conservative Jain men when they visit Derasars or Basadis for puja; unstitched clothing is believed by some Jains to be "less permeable to pollution" and therefore more appropriate for religious rituals than other garments.[15] They also wear a loose and unstitched cloth, shorter than the pancha on top.

Hare Krishna, known for its distinctive dress code, prompts Western adherents to wear pancha, usually of saffron or white cloth folded in ethnic Bengali style. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was known for wearing a white silk dhoti.[16]

The dhoti has been ethnically worn by farmers, pehlwano (wrestlers) and shepherds (grazers) of the Sikhs in the Punjab region; it was discouraged during the Punjab Subah Movement, owing it to the inter-communal tensions prevalent at the time.[17][18] The dhothi was also worn by South Canarese Christian men to their pre-nup ceremonies, Church weddings and receptions until the 1960s, when they fell out of favour; since then grooms have been styling the black suit and tie instead.[19]

At the height of the Indian Independence Movement, weaving was a symbol of the Swadeshi Movement. In 1921, the famed M K Gandhi himself championed only the dhoti often topless and without a kurta, to promote and identify with the weaves and handicrafts, produced by the rural and the poor of his homeland.[21][22][23]

A kurta version of a button-down shirt, a button-down kurta is a classic men's kurta and a wardrobe essential for stylish men. The button-down kurta is comfortable to wear and offers a nice fit. Pair such kurta with churidar pants to create a classic favorite look.

Perfect for casual outings, a short kurta goes well with jeans. Short sleeve short kurta is a great option for any kind of casual event. Alternatively, pair a short kurta with a tulip dhoti to create an ethnic ensemble. Likewise, a short kurta with Afghani salwar is also a great choice for any kind of traditional event.
