Are any other iinet NBN (FTTC) users experiencing poor service? We're been having nothing but trouble since probably mid last week, with outages across all devices from patchy internet, zero internet, website addresses not resolving or blocked.

If you get stuck and have to return it the lesser/cheaper VR600's have a drop down for your ISP VDSL in set up so that model should work ok if you just need to get back online no bells & whistles, this is assuming that your VR2800 has no VDSL drop down option for iinet in set up.

I can no longer receive (and send) emails in Thunderbird since iinet webmail has been discontinued and I have changed over to The Messenger Company. When I try to receive emails in Thunderbird it asks me for a password for iinet mail, but does not recognise the one I used to have. I'm sure I'll need to change something in the settings, but I don't know what. And I don't even know whether I will be able to send this message and/or receive a reply.

In 1995, the company moved to a CBD office. Early growth during the Internet boom was hampered by the ability of Telstra (not releasing Bigpond as an ISP until 1997) to cope with the demand of needed telephone lines, and by the sheer competitive pressure in the Perth market, which had a comparative oversupply of low-cost providers. In 1996, iiNet expanded into the Adelaide market under the name light.iinet.net.au (named after Colonel Light), in partnership with locals John Lindsay and Leigh Hart. The South Australian branch moved to become the number three ISP in the state, before being acquired by Auslink in 1998.[citation needed]
