Addendum on reaching 100K

At the time I was just shy of hitting the 100k mark on the Trident, I
did a weekend trip to my old home town (Johnstown, PA) to attend an
anniversary party for an old Outlaw brother of mine, and stop by
Triumph of Windber to make arrangements for future service trips. As
neither Jim Howell nor Bill Miller are in the Triumph business
anymore, the Tokarsky clan out of Windber are next on my list of
Triumph dealers that I trust - a list that's rapidly depleting.

Talking to Tim, he mentioned that my bringing in the bike this winter
for it's 102k service isn't going to come close to being the high
mileage bike passing through the shop. One of his local RAT members
has an early '00's Trophy that was serviced at 175k this past summer
getting it ready for a trip to Nova Scotia. At this point, there is
no manual recommendations for service. It's more of a matter of a
discussion between dealer and owner to the tune of, "What do you think
should be replaced this time?"

The guy's Trophy is over 50% stock, and he's now replacing parts no so
much because they're breaking down, as to avoid a breakdown in some
lonely place on the highway.

The moral of this story: If you still have a T3/T4, KEEP IT!
Obviously, these bikes are damned near unbreakable, and it's gotten me
thinking about just going for a second 100k rather than retiring the
bike.

I'm still up in the air about a replacement, money isn't exactly good
at the moment, and as I'm no long flying colors in an M/C (a long,
nasty story; but I remain unbruised and unbowed - if keeping a low
profile for the moment) another Harley Davidson isn't a necessity.
I've considered another Tiger, as they're about the only tourer that
the company makes that interests me at the moment, but the pillion is
nowhere near comfortable enough for Patti.

Maybe I'd better start looking for a used, low mileage, Trophy. Or,
as I work for a Honda dealer, there's always an ST1300. I'm having
trouble seeing myself on a Jap bike, however.

Syke, I've been in the same boat about my future sport-tourer. I do
like the Sprint, but my current thought is now maybe the Guzzi 4V 1200
Sport when it comes out. You can get hard bags for it and it seems
pretty comfy yet still sporty and not a huge full fairing, plut the
engine has some character (i.e. not 4-cyl):

Kept my Spint (T3) and have purchased a Moto Guzzi Norge.
I really have been enjoying the Vee twin a lot. Different than the Sprint in many ways, and yet similar too.
the new offerings from Triumph did not do anything for me... The Sprint is too "sport" and the Tiger... well... it just doesn't look right somehow. That being said, I have no plans on sellign the Sprint.. she's so well made! (another thing about new Triumphs, they seem "cheap" to me).
