Colleagues,

After the recent exchange, I hope that members are not reluctant to use the listserv to share ideas.

Thus, I would like to ask everyone to review Salvatore Calomino's minutes from our last business meeting, which includes a list of topics we've considered for sessions to prepare for our discussion at the 2012 business meeting of our group.  Bear in mind that the sessions last 90 (not 60) minutes as we consider such ideas as Tristan in translation, filmed Tristans, and other topics. Perhaps Joan Grimbert would have some thoughts about building on the Spanish Tristan she discussed, the one with carved images, to explore the visual dimensions of the topic in art and architecture. Others may consider the Tristan story as a vehicle for modern culture through ways in which Wagner's Tristan and Joyce's use of Tristan in FInnegans Wake, to cite two examples, renewed the relevance of the myth. Also, the culture of early printed books merit consideration, As you pursue your work and interact with colleagues, specific presentations may come to mind.

Over the next weeks and months, please jot your ideas and share them. That's the purpose of this listserv.

Best,

Jim
