Workable, I suppose.

This American singer, known for her unconventional style of dress, met her husband-to-be when she played a cameo in his film. The singer has appeared in FHM Magazine's 100 Sexiest Women poll twice. Having accepted writing songs inspired by specific moments of her life, she has been criticized by both religious and gay sectors. Two of her songs have been labeled as being homophobic and promoting homosexuality. MTV mentioned criticism suggesting that she was using bi-curiosity as a way to sell records.
After dating for a little more than a year, the couple got engaged while holidaying in India. They married in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan, the same location where the English actor/comedian had proposed. The singer, and her husband?

Should be easy:

When the day came, Topsy was restrained using a ship's hawser fastened on one end to a donkey engine and on the other to a post. Wooden sandals with copper electrodes were attached to her feet and a copper wire run to X's electric plant, where his technicians awaited the go-ahead. In order to make sure that Topsy emerged from this spectacle more than just singed and angry, she was fed cyanide-laced carrots moments before a __________ slammed through her body. Officials needn't have worried. Topsy was killed instantly and X, in his mind anyway, had proved his point. A crowd put at 1,500 witnessed Topsy's execution, which was filmed by X and released later that year as Electrocuting an Elephant.

Who is X and what is the point he's trying to prove?

Cheers,
Hemanth

It's Edison and he's trying to prove the dangers of AC versus DC, which he was championing.

If we listened to our intellect, we'd never have a love affair, we'd never have a friendship, we'd never go into business, because we'd be cynical. Well, that's nonsense. You've got to jump off cliffs all the time and build your wings on the way down - Ray Bradbury
