First of all, congrats Gary and Steve on your L3 success!

Mine failed because the main got stuck in the forward section. I
recovered successfully, but not according to my flight plan.

I went to 13,682' AGL and about 1300mph according to the PerfectFlite
altimeter. It came down at a single velocity (~48mph) the entire time,
so the forward section came apart at apogee. The main was stuck, as I
said, but if it hadn't gotten stuck it would have drifted forever! As
it was I landed 2 miles away from the launch site. The drogue was a
36" Rocketman chute.

My radio downlink gave me about 11 data points to the internet and no
data after launch on my ground equipment. I guess I need a bigger
antenna on the ground. The data from the Internet is all after
deployment. I made a little movie of the 3D data:

You can see the data yourself here:

So my lessons learned:

1. Use shear pins on the forward section.
2. Pack and test the chute better.
3. See what is going wrong with the Big Red Bee.

Hi Michael

Sorry it didn't work out for you. I had my Kenwood & TH-D7 with the Arrow
yagi antenna at the launch. If I had know that you had the Big Red Bee
onboard, you sure could have used it. It would have been fun to see how it
worked. If all goes well, I plan on trying my L3 next month and plan on
using the Big Red Bee plus a rocket hunter.
