There were some registry tweaks to revert system to old context menu, but none of them works after the beta update. However I noticed that since I installed QTTabBar for tabs support, whenever I open Control Panel, the File Explorer window will close and reopen as classic Explorer. And if I create new tab from the reopened window, right-click will always show old context menu instead.
This behavior indicates that there should still be some way to force Explorer use old context menus. There's another registry tweak forcing classic Explorer that still works as of version 22000.100, but in that classic explorer the context menu is still the modern one.
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Went into Disk Mode and got the "do not disconnect" message / disk mode screen. Connected iPod to laptop and was again not recognised either by iTunes or by file explorer. iPod works fine in the car so does not seem like a device error but without being able to connect into iTunes there is no way I can get more tracks etc onto the device. Any further suggestions would be welcome.
Try iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows - Apple Community. Despite the title the same steps can help, although it might mean switching from the Microsoft Store version of iTunes to the standalone installer.
That's odd. I've just hooked up my classic to the latest version of iTunes (12.12.2.2) running on Windows 11 and it is still supported. There was a pop-up about installing iPod support software, complete with a "Don't remind me again" button. Perhaps you could have selected that at some point. Try Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings, then try connecting your classic again while iTunes is running. I had to close iTunes and reopen before it showed up, and iTunes behaved as if the iPod was a new device, but at least it worked.
Thanks for the suggestions (and confirmation that it should work). Have tried the suggestions you make but still no real progress. I have the same version of iTunes as you. I can see the iPod in "Devices and Printers" but not in either iTunes nor File Explorer. Have tried resetting the drivers for Apple device but to no avail. Apple diagnostics show no device connected message. I can't see anything wrong with the systems or iPod so I guess I have to go see my IT guy and see if they can work it out. Meanwhile would welcome any further things I might try.
Thanks for the suggestions turingtest2. Have run through these and still not having any luck. Hopefully my local It support guy will be able to resolve this .... he is hopeful too. I will be sure to respond with his resolution (if he gets there). Meantime, any more suggestions or even confirmation from other users that they have gotten iPod classic and windows 11 combination successfully functioning.
