We are currently working in cooperation with TheJollyGrimReeper to produce a "fix", or solution for the Metal Magma Hotend enigma. We will continue to do so until the "fix" can be released to our customers. We are offering the choice of switching to the Mk5 J-head, or a refund is available. For customers who have purchased through other vendors, please email us at in...@trinitylabs.com for instructions. We are estimating a 4-week leadtime at present, but want to keep you, our valued customers, aware of the progress being made behind the scenes. Any questions or inquiries should be emailed to in...@trinitylabs.com

Thanks!

My J-head Metal Magma is working "ok" for ABS, but I think I would opt for the Mk5 J-head so I can do PLA at some point. I don't really want to spend a bunch of time taking apart my current head in an attempt to fix it unless I can get the fix parts along with the Mk5. This way I have a good head even if something goes wrong and my time is not wasted for free. Sounds like a pain getting it disassembled. My time is valuable to me....

Please let me know what I should do.

Thanks for responding.

Sam:

I cannot find a "MK5 J-Head" but I did find a "J-Head Mk V-BV" (https://www.hotends.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=88). Is this what you are talking about?

One reason to purchase the A1 was because it had an all metal hot end, and could work with materials with high melting temperatures.  So the offer of a replacement that uses PEEK (and, thus, is limited to about 230 C) does not really make us whole.

Are there any all metal hot ends that you can offer instead?  Or could you remanufacture the defective all metal hot ends?

Chris:

Thanks!  I can purchase an all metal hot end.  The issue at hand is whether Trinity Labs will provide a replacement for the defective hot ends that is in fact equivalent to the ones that were promised and delivered.

Hardware wise it will fit, but just a little loose on the existing metal plate, but a o-ring fixes that quickly. Electrical you've got to redo the connectors and the heater supplied is for 12 volt, I myself have switched to a resistor.
