Hi Trinity Israel Adventurers! John and I pray your jet lag is quickly dissipating and your return home was sweet and smooth. We were happy to be reunited with our daughters, who did really well with our friends while we were away, praise GOD!

I wanted to follow up on a few things I remember discussing with many of you while on the trip.

1. BE IN THE GOSPELS! You will read the stories of Jesus’ birth, life, and death with new eyes. Begin your study time with prayer and ask the LORD to show you in HIS Word who HE is and expect Him to equip you to learn like never before.

2. When you come across Text references to the First (Old) Testament, look them up! Watch how they frame they story you are reading in the Second (New) Testament. Also, look up Bible places on a map!

3. Many of you asked for more resources for further study and good refreshment of all you took in while in Israel. GOOD! The LORD delights in our study of His Word as an act of worship. I have two suggestions. One, my website has a "Resources" page--everything there is solid scholarship and trustworthy. www.textdwellers.com

Two, my workbook is nearly ready! It is an introductory study of the Land of the Bible and its is nearly finished, praise GOD. After years of teaching this material, I was asked to make a workbook readable by fifth graders and older. So don't be intimidated--I have had middle schoolers make their way through it! It requires a set of maps found in an excellent atlas and the atlas's authors have agreed to provide a bulk number at a discount--yippee!

In a week or so, Elika has graciously agreed to take orders for me locally there in Lansing so we can save by shipping them altogether. The cost of my workbook is $20, a discount from what Amazon will be charging in 3 weeks or so, and the atlas is $20. This will cover shipping to Trinity, too, so enjoy the reduced price and praise GOD with me that these resources are available! For a couple or family, two or more of you could share the resources, but since there are map marking activities, I could see how you may want your own. Elika will be sending out an order invitation soon!

John and I have decided to NOT fight jet lag. We have benefited from quiet study in the early AM hours these past few days. Our bodies will adjust and we'll be back to wrestling busyness to get to bed early enough to enjoy such quiet in the early AM, but for now, we are simply enjoying our 4AM starts! ; ) We hope you are too!

What a pleasure to adventure together!!! Be blessed by His Word!

Melanie and John

Hi friends at Trinity (and beyond),

Great news--a special edition of Let's Explore the Land of the Bible is being printed as we 'speak'! The publishing house is allowing a special run of the workbook just for our Trinity friends! The only catch is that the final page will have the word, "Proof," across it. But I am assured it is still first run quality and this provides a unique opportunity to have a workbook that also serves as a memoir of our experience together. It also allows a discount from actual cover price. I'm grateful for that. Think through what families you know who would appreciate a Bible study from this perspective or anyone else you might want to bless with these books as a gift. They can get in on this deal, too! The content is not just for folks who have traveled with us, there are some bonus photos and remarks in the book.

So in the next week or so, please reply to me (Melanie) or Elika at Trinity with your order for the workbook ($20 each) and the Regions on the Run atlas book ($20) you can use for marking. The men who wrote Regions are giving us a discount, too! So the set is only $40. Other atlases can work fine, but this is a great resource for life-long use in Bible study. I would recommend buying the atlas and copying the pages to mark. The shiny finish on the books is gorgeous but makes marking harder and also, it's not such a big deal if you make mistakes on copied pages. You can then 3 hole punch the maps and keep them in a binder with your notes. Before you know it, you will have created your own Bible study workbook.

I want to make a deadline for ordering so that those of you waiting for the resource don't wait too long. Makes a GREAT Resurrection Sunday gift!

Last day to order will be Sunday March 24, because that gives you plenty of time to mail a check to me (Melanie DeKruyter) or Elika, and two Sundays to give the check in person to Elika. You can pay for both books in one check, and please make all checks out to Melanie DeKruyter. I will place the full order when I know exactly how many, thank you! The turnaround from order date should be 5-8 days, and then we'll arrange delivery to Lansing within the week, Lord willing.

To recap:

Place orders for Let's Explore the Land of the Bible workbooks and Regions on the Run atlas by Sunday March 24 with me or Elika Fisher at Trinity.

Each is $20, whole set with atlas $40, and all checks written to Melanie DeKruyter. Checks sent to Melanie or given/sent to Elika Fisher at Trinity by Mar. 24. Orders should be delivered before April 1, Lord willing!

p.s. Don't forget to keep studying, via this workbook or some other resource. Take a visit to textdwellers.com and see the resources John and I find trustworthy and very helpful!

p.s.s. Two neat opportunities you would appreciate:

1. Melanie is teaching a mother/daughter/women's retreat at Camp Barakel the weekend of May 17. We will study the Text in light of God's design for rest, Sabbath, and essentially, who GOD is in His call to us to "live a quiet life" in this hurried world. Check Barakel's website for more info, but I think the ages are 8 and up. I am gearing my teaching for all ages, and our whole family will be there. It would be great to see you!

2. Ray VanderLaan is one of our favorite Bible teachers and he will be teaching a full weekend over Memorial Day at Gull Lake Ministries. There are overnight options, and you are also welcome to drive in for the days of study--Fri evening, all day Sat and Sun, and Mon AM. There is no cost for the weekend, unless you spend the night or enjoy the meals. We will be at as many of those teachings as we can, would love to see you!

Hey Israel Tour Friends,

Just a friendly reminder to let me or Melanie know if you are interested in purchasing these resources.  I have heard from a few of you, but just in case you’ve been thinking about it…let me know by Saturday and you can pay on Sunday – leaving an envelope in my mailbox in the main office is great!

It’s been great diving into scripture and reliving the trip through pictures video and sharing it with others!  I continue to pray for God’s truth to be living water to my soul J Praising Him for feet to walk the path today!

Blessings,

Elika
