Well I'm on the road quite a bit over the next few weeks including 3
separate trips to Sacramento. All members of the Board of
Supervisors are taking our interaction with State, Federal and
Regional contacts very seriously and I think that we are starting to
see some awareness of who we are and what our issues are.

Thursday March 15th I'll be attending the California State Association
of Counties Executive Committee meeting, where I'm one of 2 rural
county reps for the 23 rural counties. We'll be discussing many
issues including a proposed Eminent Domain initiative that CSAC will
be submitting for voter approval in an upcoming election.

Monday March 19th I'll be back in Sacramento at a Sex Offender's
roundtable with members of CSAC and the Governor's office. Rural
counties, as you might imagine, have a larger per captia percentage of
Sexual Offender placements. Hopefully we'll be able to get that
message across.

Monday March 26th Supervisor Howard Freeman (District 4 - downriver/
Weaverville) will be traveling to Modoc County for an initial meeting
with members of their Board of Supervisors and County Hosptial CEO to
discuss their options in following Trinity County's lead to form a
hospital district. After talking to them they seem to be where we
were about 2-3 years ago and running a deficit of 8 Million, which is
about double where we were. They are even more remote being located
at least 2 hours from the nearest ER. I believe there are good solid
options for them to consider and hopefully we can be of some
assistance.

March 28 - 29 I'll be back in Sacramento for CSAC's Leg Conference
where we activity interact with the legislature re upcoming
legislation and try to educate them on the realites of rural issues.
I will also be acting as chair of the Ag and Natural Resource
Committee for the first time and am proud to say that Pat Frost from
the TCRCD will be making a presentation to that committee regarding
the Weaverville Community Forest.

Trinity County has a great story to tell and I hope that I am able to
get folks to understand what our realities are and find resources and
connections to assist us in future success.

Thanks again for your support for your communities and please feel
free to get in touch with me at any time.

Best Regards,

Jeff Morris
