Broadband - Thought I would call your attention to two recent pieces
in the Record Searchlight re potential new broadband service for
Trinity County that the Board Of Supervisors and our staff have been
working on.
This article tells about the project

In addition to this project the TPUD is going to have access to
another fiber optic line as part of their direct connection project to
Trinity Dam. These combined projects will create the type of
redundancy and "looping" that are essential for any high tech firm or
service provider. Both Google and Microsoft have been prospecting
remote rural areas for higher security redundant sites for data
centers and as the internet becomes more and more of a backbone for
commerce and communication those types of sites will be more and more
important. I believe that these combined projects will be
positioning Trinity as a great location for this low impact / high
wage
industry opportunity. Will keep you posted on progress.
Radio Show - A quick FYI - I will be on I-5 Live on KCHO on Monday
October 8th discussing energy efficiency, sustainable communities,
carbon credits, forest management and climate protection. I will be
joining Dr. Jeff Price, one of the lead authors of the IPCC
(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) -- the international body,
and Dr. James Pushnik, CSU's professor in charge of the teaching of
sustainability at all levels of the curriculum. The show starts at
8pm and I hope to be able to get in some good plugs for the
Weaverville Community Forest and the Trinity PUD. I believe we will
also be taking calls from listeners.
General Plan - Planning Director Susan Price and myself are working on
scheduling the first community meeting in Weaverville for the General
Plan Update. We are looking at the first week of November and I will
drop a line as soon as we get a good date worked out.
Please get in touch if needed and thanks again for taking a part in
your community.
Best Regards,
Jeff Morris
