Greetings District 2 List!

Its been awhile since my last post and I hope that everyone is
enjoying this wonderful spring weather. Just some updates for you
regarding a few things in Trinity's 2nd District.

This last year we were successful in securing a $ 76,000 grant for
Trinity Hospital via federal funding that I was proud to spearhead
with US Senator Barbara Boxer's office. This funding is designated
for much needed equipment upgrades and capital improvements.

We were also able, within the last week, to secure a "carve out" for
Trinity Hospital and other rural hospitals throughout the state from
the medical withholds that were proposed in the Governor's original
budget package. This was done with help from the offices of
California State Senator Sam Aanestad and Assemblymember Patty
Berg.

We are also all working on securing a "carve out" from similar
withholds for all of California's rural counties. With the county
issue in particular, it is being handled legislatively and the bill,
SBXXX1, passed through the Senate and is now in the Assembly Budget
Committee of which Patty Berg is a member. We are optimistic that
this will also move through the Assembly and be signed by the Governor
since the margins between success and failure in rural California are
extremely small.

Speaking of Assemblymember Berg, she has endorsed my candidacy for
Calfornia's 2nd Congressional Seat, www.jeffmorrisforcongress.com, as
well as Judy's candidacy for the Board of Supervisors seat which I am
giving up. Patty has been an extremely effective advocate for the
issues of rural California and we're both honored to have her support
in our continuing efforts to give our communities' issues a strong
voice at the state and federal levels.

Many thanks again for your continued support and your involvement in
your community.
It makes a real difference.

Best Regards,

Jeff Morris
