Hiall, i wonder if any can assist with an issue I've encountered installing Horizon Client 5.4.3 onto a customer's Windows 10 Home laptop. The install fails, reporting an error in the event logs of "The VMware Horizon Client service is marked as an interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive services. This service may not function properly". I've re-ran the install with the AV disabled. Tried running the without the "without HTML5 MMR package" too and checked the logs but they don't give any obvious clue as to the cause. The machine is fully up to date, plenty of disk space (over 80GB free on C) and no errors I can find in Windows after running the System File Checker.

we are running Windows 10 LSTC 1607 with Horizon View 7.4. From on day to the other, we have Issues with scrolling or when moving windows. Just parts of the screen gets updated with the new screen content or some window content (like buttons) are missing.

When I first created writable (UI + profike), it was working fine. But after sometime, the user is getting app volume virtualization error and VDI getting disconnectes after that. Now the issue is for more than 3 users.

-the next step in step 2 is to take snapshots for view composer to use a vm take a snapshot of the vm parent with vcenter? I see on the guest where to take the snapshot, did not see option on the vmview server with vcenter installed the option to take a snap shot?

I created VMWare ssl web template from CA. Configured everything for Enroll. On the replica server - requested the certificate and completed the certificate process. Imported the certificate to Trusted Root Authorities folder as well. I did this after replica server was installed. I did delete self signed certificate that was created during replica server install. I deleted because did not needed as, I am using certificate from CA.

In horizon admin HTML5 (Horizon 7.12) I dont see any area of the dashboard that gives this same data and I have to manually go thru each desktop pool and add up individually the numbers from each pool to get a total.

I'm busy with a proof of concept for VMWare view. So far everything has been setup and working quite nicely. I am using View 4.6 and hosting my Win 7 x64 VM's on a Vsphere environment with ESX 4.0 hosts.

I can log into my VM's using the view client via a View Administror Server. Once logged in, sound works fine, I can open mp3's or youtube and sound works in general. Going into Device Manager I can see there is a device called VMWare virtual audio (devtap) installed, although the virtual machine settings via Virtual Centre obviously displays no sound device.

After starting to play around with some of our applications, including Microsoft lync, I noticed that I cannot make audio calls to other Lync clients, most likely due to there not being any microphone support here. I have tried to do the same thing from a thinclient with audio out / mic in jacks, but get the same result. Is there some sort of driver which allows for microphone emulation the same way as which is currently being used for sound card emulation for View?

We are deploying a new vdi image in our VMware Horizon Environment and i'm having issue when connecting via PCoIP, it connects for a few seconds and just freeze, and goes black screen. No issues when using Blast and RDP on the new image. Its not a port issue as we have a number of existing pools using PCoIP as default protocol, it only happens on this new images.

Facing a very odd problem with Macs, 4K screens and the Horizon Client (either 5.4.3 or 2006, I have tried both). The problem I am facing seems to be with Mac clients and scaling. As I run 4K monitors, I have the scaling on Mac set to emulate 'Looks like 3008 x 1692'. However, when there is any scaling in place on the Mac (other than Native Resolution of 3840 x 2160 I get blurry text on the screen.

If I remove scaling from the Mac, at native resolution 3840 x 2160, everything is crisp and clear via Horizon and scales perfectly, even if using the Apps. The moment there is any scaling set on the Mac at all (in System Preferences), I get the blocky text as though Horizon is selecting the scaled resolution of 3008 x 1692 (not, the equivalent hi-dpi).

However, I get no such option for 'Connection > Resolution > Full Resolution' when connecting to the Desktop via Horizon (running sessions on a Windows 2019 standard server). I have ensured I have selected 'Automatic Resolution' as well (as a condition of getting the 'Connection --> Resolution' menu, again, it does not show up in the Mac Horizon Client.

Has anyone experienced this, or know what might be the cause? I have run into little speed humps here and there, all of which I have been able to overcome (and enjoyed, hey, tis a learning process after all) but this one has me more than a little stumped and pulling my hair out.

I'm trying to find this information in the documentation and so far cannot find the answer. We are setting up a new Horizon environment and linking it to our old environment at another site using Cloud Pod Architecture. Everything is working good internally. Now we are going to set up external access using UAGs. What I'm trying to find out is if the UAGs at the new site need to communicate directly to the Connection Server at the old site. To better phrase the question:

Do the UAGs in Site B, need to be able to reach the Connection Servers in Site A, for authentication? Or will they only need to reach Connection Servers at their site (Site B)? Currently the UAGs are pointed at the Connection Servers at Site B.

Had a couple pools running out of space on the Local C drive so i redid the master VM. The question i have is concerning the overhead that there is when creating VM's in the pool. Currently on my new master i have a 50GB partition and there is 29GB of free space. However when i compose the desktops in the pools the desktop now shows only 5GB of free space. This is going to be an issue and would like to find out what is going on. This master is Optimized and i believe configured correctly. Any help or info is appreciated. Thanks

Is it allowed to connect to the connection server admin console via UAG?

I have a unified URL whether I am remote or on orem. If remote it the requests goes to the UAG loadbalanced VIP and then hits the internal connection servers.

On-prem everything goes directly to connection servers. There is no issue using the admin console.

When I am off-site I can connect fine to the portal client via UAG but not admin console.

I am trying to figure out where issue lies and I wonder if the UAG block access the horizon connection admin console somehow? I could understand if they did from a security point of view but just trying to understand and cannot find anything on this

If you point your browser to the Horizon Connection Server (without /admin in the path), the Install VMware Horizon Client link redirects to the VMware.com site for downloading of Horizon Clients. You can change it so that the Horizon Clients can be downloaded directly from the Horizon Connection Server.

The HTML5 Horizon Console ( /newadmin) has a default timeout of 10 minutes. Changing the Horizon Administrator timeout will not affect the Horizon Console timeout. You can use adsiedit.msc to increase the Horizon Console timeout.

If you plan to build RDS Hosts, then install Remote Desktop Licensing somewhere. You can install it on your Horizon Connection Servers by following the procedure at -controller-7-15-ltsr-and-licensing/#rdlicensing.

The logon logs are stored at C:\programdata\VMware\VMware Logon Monitor\Logs on each Horizon Agent. The Fling website has a PDF that explains how to also store them on a file share.

Hello, Is anyone else getting failed login when trying to get into the Horizon HTML5 Console on 7.11? fails every time on HTML5 but works perfectly on the older Flash console. Its not that whole CheckOrigin=False thingy manifesting in other ways is it?

After upgrading my connection server 7.9 my physical workstations that were accessed via horizon view are no longer accessible. I have installed the upgraded agent on the physical workstations and i can see them listed in the admin portal as available.

Hello Carl,

is the Logon Monitoring still supported? There us nothing official about it, but with Horizon 7.6+ it seems not working anymore. Many people having problems getting the LM working, including myself.

So we are doing a migration from Citrix 7.15 to VMware 7.7 published applications . Strange fact ,when we install the VMware 7.7 agent on Citrix server with VDA 7.15 it installs with no problem, The problem is when you reboot the server any other changes do not stick after a reboot . So if you install a hot fix , put files on the server desktop they are all gone after a reboot . We tried all available VMware Horizon 7.x agents and it only works with 7.4 and below .

Hello,

I would need your help please. We have a Windows virtual machine vCenter Server 5.5 and a Horizon View 7.3.2

I plan to install a new Windows virtual machine vCenter Server in 6.5 version.

All the VDI VM are in a manuel desktop pool.

Once this new vCenter Server 6.5 VM is installed, I plan to add it in the 7.3.2 View administrator

I have read this VMware KB article concerning a restriction about moving a vcenter for an Horizon view environment.

Hi Carl, I need an help regarding to deploy Horizon view 7.7 , i am planning to get it done with VCSA 6.0 will it work with Horizon view i have to create separate database for the Horizon view in SQL or else i can use the same vcenter presql? Kindly guide me how to proceed with Horizon view 7.7 with VCSA? also let me know this is advisable VCSA with Horizon view.

Are you asking if you can store the Horizon Events database in the PostgreSQL database server that is running on VCSA? I think VMware only supports SQL or Oracle, not PostgreSQL. -Horizon-7/7.7/horizon-installation/GUID-E04FDAC2-AD7B-4B09-B6E0-4A541646869B.html
