Role: LAB IT Business Analyst

Location: Cambridge, MA                                                                             

Duration: 6+ months

 

 Job description:

 

We are seeking a Business Analyst professional to be a part of a program to enable the future state of Laboratory IT to improve productivity in our Clinical Laboratory. Candidate is expected to perform professional duties related to the review, assessment, and development of business processes as well as testing and verification that functionality delivered has been developed as anticipated. Functioning in a liaison capacity, candidate will analyze and translate departments' business requirements into system deployments and/or business process changes. Candidate will also act as a change agent to help facilitate effective modifications to current practices.


Responsibilities:

·         Define and document customer business functions and processes

·         Develop requirements or User Stories for new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensure the system design fits the needs of the users. Identify opportunities for improving business processes and assists in operational changes.

·         Act as a liaison between cross-functional departmental end-users, LIMS technical team, the Technology team, consultants and other groups in the analysis, design, configuration, testing and maintenance of requirements/stories to ensure optimal operational performance.

·         Generate new documentation for knowledge bases and provide training for new or modified LIMS workflows and lab applications.  Create or modify work instructions as necessary

·         Participates in user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality.

·         Train and support LIMS users

·         Develops training curriculum and conducts formal training sessions covering assigned LIMS systems module and other applications.

·         Escalate customer concerns and complaints to senior engineers as appropriate.

 

Required Skills:

·         Good understanding of LIMS system sample life cycle.

·         Experience with writing good user stories or requirements

·         Experience using Atlassian tools (JIRA/Confluence)

·         Familiar with Agile and Scrum frameworks

·         Experience with conducting root cause analysis

·         Working knowledge of MS windows operating systems

·         Write, Review, Execute IQ, OQ, and PQ documents

·         Develop User Guides or Work Instructions document

·         Ability to work as an individual as well as in a team environment

·         Strong written and oral communication skills

·         Detail oriented and well organized

·         Technical Support and/or Customer Service experience with the associated skills in patience, courtesy and diplomacy

 

Education and Experience:

 

·         Bachelor’s degree, in Life Sciences, Engineering or IT related concentration

·         4-6 years’ experience in a scientific or technical role in Life Sciences preferred, Oncology and NGS experience a plus

·         2+ years’ experience using LIMS, configuration or maintenance a plus (Nautilus LIMS preferred)

·         Experience with application of lab data systems and Automation to streamline lab processes a plus
