There's a spotted/ coached open water swim @ Cape Elizabeth, Kettle Cove this Thursday, July 23

Time: 6pm (arrive a little early in order to put your wet suit on)

Cost $12

There will be multiple kayaks and a coach on the beach to make sure you come back :-)
this is a great way to practice swimming in a group and "starting" a race
the run after: you may opt to do 3 or 6 mi.

Did this tonight and had a really nice swim at Kettle Cove.  Weather was perfect!   Water was calm and actually quite warm!

Atmosphere was relaxed -- Doug and Denise were very welcoming and easy to talk to.  There were 6-7 swimmers, which it sounds like was on the smaller side per usual.  We all hung out for a few minutes chatting before getting started.  They had set out two buoys on the water to make a 1/3 mi swim course.  We did an in-water start together (relaxed, not hectic) and everyone swam at their own pace.  Denise led us around the course in a rowboat, watching from the front, while Doug followed up the rear in a kayak.  I chose to do two laps, but some did just one.  After was the option of a 1.9 mi run course out on Two Lights Rd to Rte77 and then back on Kettle Cove Rd.  Finished up by helping to deflate the buoys and chatting with the folks some more and enjoying the great views and sunset.

Looking forward to doing this again in a couple weeks!
