The Splash N Dash pays homage to the origin of multisport racing in the United States when, in the early 1970’s, members of the San Diego Track Club incorporated a post-run swim into their workouts/ races. Their enthusiasm lead to the formation of the Mission Bay Triathlon in 1974 and the rest is history. From Mission Bay to Casco Bay… The Maine Splash N Dash presented by Cape Chiropractic and Acupuncture will welcome newcomers into the sport as well as test the most fit regional athletes; all you need is an adventuresome spirit!
The Splash N Dash consists of a 1/3 mile wetsuit swim (or SUP) followed by a 5km run. Participants may compete as individuals or as a team of 2. Swim or SUP? That is correct, participants (team or individual) have the option to complete the first leg of the race in the water as a swimmer or on top of the water with a Stand Up Paddleboard! Stand Up Paddleboard athletes (space is limited) will have a separate start wave and designated space in the transition area. Team members will exchange a timing chip in the transition area. Results will be chip timed, available after the race, and will consist of Swim/ SUP, T1, Run, and overall times.
A great cause! The Splash N Dash presented by Cape Chiropractic and Acupuncture will benefit the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. Our sport thrives on the generosity of others and your giving will go to a great cause. The Animal Refuge League will be on-site on July 9th with adoptable furry friends to walk and socialize.
